Ive been trying for the last 4 days to get the damn patcher to work it keeps auto canceling me for some reason. I did everything they told me to do with my anti virus and It still goes for about 5 mins then auto cancels me.

Does anyone have any advice?

On the patcher, select the option to patch files while running the game, then try running the everquest2.exe file directly from your EQ2 folder:

"everquest2.exe" in c:\program files\sony\everquest

Are you using Vista by chance? B/C I had major issues with the patcher. If you have Vista you can either disable UAC or run program as admin you click the eq2 icon. You also have to change the compatiability to XP SP2. EQ2 and Vista suck together and not in a good way. I kept getting to one file on the patcher and it would just sit there or keep downloading it over and over.

Im using XP home.

They CS rep for SoE said it was my isp timing out blah blah blah. But nothing has changed since I downloaded it last time...

If after it cancels the DL and I hit download again it picks up where it left off, so it looks like im gonna have to sitht here for 2+ hours reclicking DL.

Is your firewall install? Make sure you dont have any firewalls running. This could be the cause of it.

I have a feeling that the router may not be configured correctly. If it is cancelling your DL ever (set number of minutes) then I would bank on a configuration on your router that doesnt jive with EQ2. You can probably do a search on the tech site for the info http://www.station.sony.com/support/ , or even post the info on your router (model, type, etc...) and I bet one of us could help you.

Its not a set number when it cancels. It does it random. The longest it will go is around the 5 min mark though. Right now im at work and Im sure we have a router but I have no clue how to figure that one out.

I won't be home until after 10 pm est this evening. When you get home, if you can, post the information on the router. I believe you are just losing the "handshack" through one of your ports.

This is a list of all the supported routers for EQ2, at the bottom of the page you will see "how do I set up my routers/proxy to work with EQ2". Take a look at that page, it may be helpful.

I finally got it to work. I bit the bullet and hardlined my DSL w/o the router, so I can finally play!!
