Is anyone willing to post what kind of point/loot system they are using in EQ2? I'd like to see what others have come up with.

We used EQ2DKP, which was really EQDKP modified for EQ2. Or do you mean actual point/loot policies?

Actual policies, but thanks for pointing out that there is a version of EQDKP we can look at.

We broke things down this way:

On time points.
Event points, some raids were worth more.
You had to be there for x amount of time to get full points unless asked to leave for another member to take your spot. Then, you got full points.

We used to have a 15% attendance policy but it got voted out. All loot was dealt with at the end of the nights raiding. Legendary/Fabled were for points, all others were NBG random. Rares, were for points but we had a lower starting bid for them.

Any loot not taken was then banked and we held forum auctions for anyone to bid on the items.

It's been working that way for over a year and it fit our guild. I don't run it now thankfully as I have a life :) There are many many mods for the EQ2DKP....you can change the classes and levels etc.

my last guild is using some stupid dkp system and at first there was no minimum raid attendance and raiding was not mandatory. but since people whine and bitch about everything, they've changed it to where you have to have 40% raid attendance and RL and posting that you can't attend is not taken into consideration. they may state that it is but it really isn't.

so, fuck them in the ear. i was beta-testing KoS and i was assured i would not lose raid attendance but that was a load of bullshit. i lost out of a good chunk of % and there's no way i can make that up with my upcoming wedding/vacation.

besides, the drama from some of the officers made being in that guild unbearable. and if you would like to listen to a screaming banshi on teamspeak or enjoy getting non-guild pick-up groups (cliques are prevalent in this guild), join Robur et Decus on the Permafrost server and enjoy. ++points for giving 100% to each of your 5 toons at the same time during a raid.

fun times

anyway, my current guild has no point system. we kill freeps. that's it.

I was in this cool WoW guild where the officer council decided they got the first of whatever they wanted! IT RAWKED!

So Robur went down the shitter? Too bad. I did enjoy EQ2 with them at the beginning.

That's a good system, as long as you keep a cap on the window of raids that the attendance percentage covers. A couple months tops.

My current WoW guild has some % based loot requirements for specific items (books that increase skill powers specifically, and tradeskills since they effect the whole guild not just the individual) and built into EQDKP there's a % for the past 30, 60, and 90 days. It keeps track of all of that easy peasy.

The main thing to concider in any point system is keeping the inflation at zero. Once your pool is a decent ammount (lets say the average number of points in your guild is enough to obtain 1 item. if an item is worth 30 and you have 70 members, that'd mean you'd want your pool in the 2100 points range) and keep that constant. That means that over the next month after you've reached your optimal dkp pool size, you want the DKP spent to equal the DKP earned and your pool to remain close to if not exactly 2100 points.

Why is that important? Because it keeps the points earned the same value. If your pool is growing every month (2100 then 4200 then 8400) each point earned has a lower worth than it did the month before. This is an easy way to encourage people skipping events that isn't as interesting to them, since the points per event isn't as valueable as they used to be. This hurts guild progression since the easiest raids to skip are those exploratory ones. It also makes it for people at the bottom of the pool (those who joined later) harder to get items because not 1 or 5 or 10 people are stockpiling points but the entire guild has lots more points than they should.

Any system will work fine for EQ, EQ2, WoW, Vanguard, etc. with the basic concept of "you earn dkp equal to time spent raiding" and thus "you earn loot equal to the dkp you've acquired". Its just the minor tweaking that would be platform specific, but not even really ...

I mean, my WoW guild uses basically what Rest In Peace used in EQ1 (at least what they used when I first joined, no taxes or any of that stuff) with only some minor tweaks to fit the game and our guild specifically.

we had a 5% decay each month too, it was necessary as many of us quickly earned tons of DKP....might consider that too.

Zabab doesn't understand english entirely. so with him being the leader and not really listening to what everyone is saying, yes it did go down the crapper. and letting a couple of idiots with their "100% attended bots at raids" talk their way into turning ReD into a zerg-force, yes i would say it's fucked up now. lot of backstabbing bitches in the guild now. and they're letting all their bitchy friends in too, the ones that had applied earlier but the previous officers didn't want in because of their attitude are now in the guild.

i went with the ex-leader and officers to the pvp server and we're having a blast! no more screaming bitches!! yay!
