Blackguard left a few weeks ago.
Today Moorguard announced he's leaving.
EoF is about a month out.

WTF is going on? I suspect it has to do with this....

I'll hunt for the links tomorrow b/c I only have a minute. But Moorguard started as the community relations guy but eventually became a dev. Blackguard took his spot and probably didn't have allot of influence. Still, it's interesting ;)

No but he has $$$$$ and that hires the good MMO talent.

Couldn't agree with you more. I knew when this company started that regardless of how incredible Todds art is, or how unreal the story is that R.A. creates, if we don't get the true leaders, within the industry, to lead this studio, then it won't matter because the game will suck.

As you can imagine this is not a large industry. The people that are coming to GMG to fill these roles, most of them are at work for other companies committed to other things right now. When they do make the transition there will be announcements made and I think at that time people will realize that talen wise, we nailed it. I can say this much, I had a short list of dream candidates to run my studio, hoping to get 1 of them. At the end of the day GMG got 3. Even better is the fact that these people are excited about working with and for each other. THeir resumes are unreal, and their accomplishments in producing and shipping titles is every bit as awesome as the creative talent here.

Indeed he does. SoE has lost more than a few devs with more to go :)
You can read more about this and about the goings on in the EQ2 community here. http://eq2flames.com/showthread.php?t=1332 if you register use "Nurta" as a referral please :) I waited to see if it was going to shape up to be more than just a flame board, indeed it has. There's probably more people posting there than on the official boards and it has heavy traffic. Have fun :)

All we need is another MMO game out, that is going to spread out the small population of MMo'ers.

I think the best idea any company that wants to try there hands in a MMO should do is buy a currently failing MMO's IP and revamped that game to its liking, you would already have a game base made and you can spend all ur money making it better. For instance buy SWG! revamp the crap out of it and bring it back to life!

it's damn hard to undo years of bad publicity if they were to buy a failing mmo.

I dont know, Curt is kinda enough good publicity. Go onto MMorpg.com or 1up.com or mmonut.com ;) and just say you are taking over a game with a bad rep and are going to make it something grand. Seriously when games have bad reps like SWG i really believe, any news that someone is taking it off the hands of SOE and are going to revamp it, that its subscription would go back up once it was rereleased. It's all about getting the news out there that someone new owns it and its going to be better then ever.

You would have the base controls and such already finished, whatever it takes to first start out a mmo already taken care of, by buying a game that is flailing and all that money you were going to spend to get the game off the ground can now be spent on quality employees.

Sadly, I have absolutely no idea what it takes to get a game going so its all my opinion.

Truthfully I bet a large portion of the MMO playerbase has no idea who Curt Shilling is. Another large portion doesn't ever go to those sites. And then, when you build from scratch its your baby where otherwise you are buying someone elses and have to settle all the time.

It's a dreamer's thought Mog but with SoE and how much people hate them it could actually be a good marketing strat haha.
