Anyone notice that there is way to many freaking guilds these days?

Friend of mine just got leadership of a dead guild that reached level 20 before it went under and he figured that conisdering the guild was alread level 20 it would be easy to rebuild at least number wise... but god damn every new person you see you can practicaly guarantee there ina guild you havent seen before.

Anyone else notice this?

Aye, and good guilds are very hard to get in... I mean those who raid, who have DKP etc.

But Sony has corrected this with the guild decay and guild experience loss removal. Now having a guild level 20 is easier. So I guess as well join another one. Its after guild level 25 that things get harder and slower.

Unless your friend has a very strong leadership and 2-3 good dedicated friends that help as officer, I wouldnt invest much time in a dead guild.

I echo what Lani says. If you want a good guild it's not going to be found by simply just accepting random invites or those idiots who stand out in zones and do /ooc "Guild recruiting the first 5 I invite will be officers". There are tons of guilds but they don't last long and if they do they suffer extreme turnover. The best guilds are long established ones with an app process. Even the casual guilds that have any kind of decent reputation don't just invite anyone.

He's not looking to make a uber raiding guild just a nice little guild with good people to exp with but even that is hard to do these days. oh well at least we have access to 3 room apartments!

Build your guild, reputation will go a long way. Post on teh SoE boards for your server about your guild and what you're looking for. I know on the MM boards people will go there all the time looking for a guild to join and the other guilds trounce like they are fresh meat :D Good luck, in this game it's all about reputation.

Ah great another place to be unpopular :(

Reputation is important but more important is to have people that are in game with some regularity. To have people in the guild that basically play the same time you do. That will keep a guild alive, IMO. :)
