Well, I think i'll dust off my copy of EQ2, see if remember my account info and check out the game. The new update seems to be pretty friendly to casual players so i'll give it a go. I plan on deleteing all my old toons since non were over lvl 8. A fresh start could be fun. We'll see. Any advice on casual family style guilds who like to lend advice and a helping habd out to new player out there?

My advice would be to go to your server's EQ2 forum and post what you're looking for and see if any fit. I know that most have a listing that has all the guilds on the server there. Good luck.

pvp has been in eq2 but they are adding 5 pvp only servers in the next couple of days. it was part of the reason for combining some servers. All the info one would seek about the whys and hows and whens can be found here

here is all the info on what's in this patch:

Good if ya dont mind could ya keep at the boards up to date if the new pvp servers are any fun.. I am tempted to retry it if the pvp is as fun as it sounds.

Sure I'll toss whatever PvP info I see out here.

Anyone hear about or experience spells losing their potency? One of our members had spells go from App IV, Adept I or Adept III to App I. It didn't affect all spells/combat arts or even all his characters, but he's seen threads on the forums reporting the same thing.

No. But when you log in basically all your spells from level 20 and below will change b/c the way classes are set up are completely different some spells might go away.

If you're over level 20 chances are you don't use those spells anway. I haven't caught any of those threads yet. But there are a couple of things that annoy the shit out of me about this update.

1) ring buffs are no longer activated they are worn. So no more stacking 4 different buffs :(

2) the character selection screen reports me as a warden from freeport when i'm a paladin from qeynos haha.

3) they reset the discoveries so every time someone finds something (even buying it from a broker) the dinger goes off.

4) they just nerfed the writ status from 21k a pop back to 5k :(

Overall I'm happy with this update, the lag in cities especially QH is much better.

I agree all around. Hating the ring nerf, and I'm sure jewelers aren't too happy either. The discovery thing is silly as hell, and I think it happened with a previous patch way back, too. My new monk still has Adept III's under lvl 21, and I'll be quite unhappy if they're now App IV's.

I'm guessing the discovery thing is b/c of the server merges but geez a bit early methinks.

No. Its because instead of changing item XXX wearable by Crusader (10) they created a new item wearable by Paladin (10) and Shadowknight (10) - so you rediscover it. All items from 1-20.

This is because class attribution at lvl 2 instead of lvl 20

But rings of the same type stack now. The question is would you rather have 44 of one thing or 22 of a few things.

Well personally 22 of a few b/c my stats would be well rounded.

I only had 2 rings anyway, I am happy that I dont have to recast them :)

well when you're a hybrid you have to be concerned with multiple stats :)

ok guys is the improvemnts worth buying another 20 dollar game and starting out from scratch again? Sadly had to get rid of my 44 Wizard but would love to start a bard maybe... anyways is it worth coming back?

well the biggest change you will see is that there is no more achetypes or subclasses. If you want to be a troub or a dirge you will be one at the start and no just a scout and then a bard. I haven't played with anything but my main so I don't know how it's different. Also there really is no more Isle of Refuge. It is split up and should be more in tune with whichever faction you choose: Qeynos or Freeport.

I can't say if it's worth buying again but I do know that some time later this month they are releasing the game packaged differently to include the expansion and maybe the adv packs. I bounce around from games but EQ2 has done a fairly good job at holding my attention. Good luck.

My bad pvp doesnt come out till Next Expansion.

Though let me ask you this Fildien cause it seems you really keep up to date with whats happening in game, with the knew expansion are they gonna change the problem with everyone's gear looking the same.. more variety?

3rd UPdate: Ok So I signed up for the Free up to level 6 account and just tried out the new lowbie isle, and I gotta say that eq2 puts alot of work into there first impression. If I was brand new to MMO's or just this game in general I would be very impress with how the new lowbie ISLE and the intro skit looks. Oh well guess I will fight the urge to sign up just right now and wait till i can get the last expnasion included for a cheap price.
