Ok you Bush-hating fair-skinned bastards, I need a favor.

I'm looking for a HTC Voyager, or e200, or c500 (or even e100) Smartphone. Orange [who names your GSM carriers?!?] sells these, often at a substantial loss, bundled with service plans and their GSM cards.

I can turn to eBay, and they're going for, oh, $150 for an e200 after the cost of DHL shipping, but, well, here I sit, with my hand out, looking for one of you guys to help a brother out, and find me an e200 or c500 (the c500 would be preferrable, but, well, it's gonna be a lot more expensive) that isn't getting it's price jacked up on eBay.

Or, better yet, if one of YOU has an e200 or c500 (did I mention c500) or even an e100 you'd be interested in selling to a guy in the states, let me know 'eh?

Work is finally moving us to GSM phones, and I've just gotten myself a Panasonic G51. I almost got the black-and-white GD55 because it's only 65 grams, but I figured a 69-70 gram phone wouldn't kill me.

Anyway, move this to Bazaar if you must, but I'll gladly make enough general GSM phone conversation to keep it here :)

EUROS! Help a brother out!

Ok, pretty sure that, after some searching, I'm going to get the C500 (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=585) (The Audiovox 5600 version, probably) and do my own unlock.

I'm still interested in a "deal" on a used Orange e200 though, so, Euros, search those piles of last year's techno-gear.

Since I'm just talking to myself tonight anyway, I ordered this for myself yesterday:

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=296

http://img.phonescoop.com/img/p/470/296_1.jpg

I had wanted to get the 65 gram black and white version (the GD55) or the newer black and white 69 gram version (the A102), but at 75 grams -- which I think is over the weight listed at Panasonic, I can live with a color screen.

What I think I want to play with (if someone doesn't come up with a nice used e200) is one of these:

http://i3.ebayimg.com/03/i/03/f4/5a/38_1_b.JPG

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=585

And for $200 on eBay, at only 104 grams, it seems more fun an a PSP.

Speaking of phones, anyone used the new RAZR (sp?) phone from Moto? I'm getting really tired of my v600 and have been thinking about upgrading, but don't want to if the RAZR has dumb issues like the v600 does (my reception at home is now WORSE than it was with an old StarTAC I bought when those were new).

The quad-band SE photo RAZR runs $400 at www.myworldphone.com (http://www.myworldphone.com/) and is an impressive 13mm thin - not bad for a camera+bluetooth device. [USTronics wants $500 for it.]

Phonescoop (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=547) has 10 pages of user-reviews on it (direct link to reviews). They're much better than anything I could type -- but... 3.4oz seems pretty heavy for an ultra-slim. The reviews seem overwhelmingly positive though.

Get yourself a 2.1oz Sony Ericsson t600. Sure's it's not as cool, but the only lighter phone is the 2.08oz model the t600 replaced :)

My brother has one and can't shut up about it already. One cool thing that I experienced with it was the conference feature. When my mom hospitalized recently he was able to conference the whole hospital room in on his tiny phone. I was on the other end in PA and I call tell you it sounds better than most conference phones. I was impressed and everyone in the room could hear me just fine. That's pretty much all I know, but as I said he can't shut up about it, in fact every damn conversation reverts to that damn phone jesus he needs a life.

I'm not too worried about the cost, if it actually works well. My v600 is pretty cool for playing Java games, taking pictures, and checking your AIM contact list wirelessly, but it's a piece of crap phone. Oddly enough, I buy a cell phone to use as a phone.

I've heard good stuff about the Sony phones, but I hate non-flip form factors. I looked at a RAZR at the Cingular store today and the guy said the 2 year contract price for it is supposed to come down to $150 or $199 on the 8th. So, I'm going to wait till then.

The wide shape is nice too. I find the v600 to be a little narrow for my hands.

Odd. I detest flips. When I use the search engine at PhoneScoop (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/finder.php?m=e), I select bar and slider models only.

I did, in fact order an Audiovox 5600 today too. I can't wait to play with it. Smaller than my current piece-of-crap Nokia (not a bad phone, just old, and heavy at nearly 5oz) and about 200x the features.

Unless you're wearing it as an earring, I'm not sure if I see why a couple ounces is anything to get excited about.

A 2oz phone in your shirt pocket is nice. A 4oz phone in your shirt pocket isn't.

Yeah, I saw the Razr price drop with a 2 year contract over the weekend.

The v600 has relatively good reception when compared to other cell phones. If you're having reception problems in your house in areas that other phones don't have, there's a lot of chance involved.

I've tested a lot of phones over the last year or 2, and testing inside my house makes me realize how much luck is involved in wireless reception.

I read that the screen on the v600 causes RF interference that isn't properly shielded from the rest of the phone, leading to really bad reception. I've noticed when I open the phone, I lose 1-2 bars in most areas too. If I use a headset it's okay at home, but I often go no-service just trying to dial a call.

I think I'm going to go pick up a RAZR this afternoon.

3.4oz? Sanchek, save yourself!

How about a 2.12oz Sony Ericsson T600 (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=167)? Or if you insist on a flip phone (insanity), you can stay under 3oz in the Motorola E380 (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=336).

E380's go for $70 on eBay, GSM unlocked. T600's unlocked go for $150, and there isn't a lighter phone you can get without getting the T66 obsolete model which the T600 replaced. [A couple of them on eBay right now, but they're pink!]

A feature-rich version of the T600 (the T630) comes in color and with a camera for 95 grams (3.3 oz). Still lighter than the RAZR, and with many more features.

Hell, my new phone (http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=13758&langId=-1) weighs as much as a RAZR.

I have it now. Daddy likes.

Its thickness beats everything else I've seen, without question. It's noticably lighter than my v600 was too. I usually carry it in my pocket when I'm out, so the slimline form factor is worth a lot more than an ounce.

Another plus that I didn't expect is that the data cable port on it works with the same USB cable my digital camera uses.

I read that the screen on the v600 causes RF interference

Not sure who the heck is saying that. We use 'em all the time, don't have problems like that. Wacky.

Well, maybe it was voodoo magic. Or, maybe I got one out of a bad batch. I'm probably just on the fringe of coverage at home, for whatever reason.

The RAZR is one bar stronger at home though.

The one that isn't the RAZR in your pic looks alot like a phone I bought quite recently. If this is the one you refer to as v600 (called something else over here, of course) then I can certainly agree on the coverage issues, it's horrible!

It just keeps getting better. It charges the battery from the PC's power, through the USB connector while it's connected for synchronizing and data transfer. So, I don't even have to use the home charger. I can leave it hooked up to the USB on my computer instead.

I would highly recommend it to anyone on Cingular.
