So a friend IMed me the other day and said the he is playing Everquest again on the side, but he's playing on an EQ emulation server (read: not Sony, no monthly fees). The server he's playing on is a progression server and they are currently on the original release EQ.

I decided to give it a try. I had to get Everquest Titanium (which I found... uh.. somewhere ; ) ) and change a couple files, but I was pretty surprised how easy it was to get set up.

The server I'm on is called Project1999. I created a woodelf bard and started playing.

I had forgotten how brutal EQ is. I suppose I've been spoiled by WoW, but JESUS. I don't know my /played but I've put at least 3-4 hours into the game... and am a little over half way through level two, heh. Granted, two hours of that was me trying to get from Kelethin to Freeport.. and dying three times on the way. Totally forgot about bind points. Fun times.

That aside, the nostalgia of playing original EQ again is awesome. It's original graphics and everything (which may be off-putting to some, but feels like home to me heh). Since the server population is low (usually around 200 online at a time) auction and OOC are global. Its so funny to see bronze armor pieces being auctioned like they're hot items.

Anywho, I'm having fun with it... will probably play a couple hours a night when I have time. Would love to see some familiar faces running around. If any of you decide to play, look me up. Character name is Akom (reborn as a bard ; p).
