So I got a brand new Sony Vaio with a Radeon 9200 and reinstalled everquest to chat with some friends and it wont play it. Gives me a "eq.exe" has encountered problems and needs to close". Is there any thing I should know about installing this poorly coded game?

Have you tried looking through the Knowledge DB on everquest.com? that's where i ususally go when i end up with errors. Start EQ again and right down there error then do a search in the KDB for it.

Make sure you have dx9.0b installed on that brand new machine of yours.

It usually gives a specific error for that though.

I had the same problem when i reformattted, unfortunatly the only way I found to fix it was to drag the everquest folder from another computer on the network.

My problem was that I had only installed the Kunark expansion trying to get away with as little as possible. Once I gave up and installed all the expansions I had no problems logging in.

Does a Radeon 9200 even support DX9? I know the 9000 doesn't. Silly ATI.
