Guys I'm an psyched! I know you all know I'm a triathlete and enjoy cycling and running but swimming was always a pain in the ass. Well we had a pool put in over the winter but one of the features I had added was something called a Fastlane.

It is made by Endless Pools and it is basically the primo swim machine.

I used to have to drive an hour to a masters swim program , swim an hour, then drive back an hour..... basically a huge block of time lost 3 times a week.
I tried to talk the wife into the Endless Pool which is a small 12x8 enclosed swim product. However it cost 20-35k to get it done right/nice. Below is a link to what an endlesspool looks like.

Well the Endless Pool people were selling something called the Niche' Endless Pool which went over the side of existing pools. The refined that over the next few years and viola it was ready when we were ready to put a pool in... the called it .... The FastLane :) Below is a link to how the Fastlane looks in some pools and works.

Since I knew I was getting one I had the plans put in when we designed the pool. So this means I got the machined that just breaks the surface of the water and there are no bars hanging over the side of my pool. I also got the clock which tells you the speed off the workout per 100 meters.

I will take some pictures and upload them soon. I think I can figure it out. I also need to take some pictures of the Ayro Fantasy Football Champoinship shirt too :)

Anyhoo, Down in Louisiana it was 85 degrees yesterday and the water temp was 73 so I got the wetsuit on and went to town :)

That's pretty cool, I try to swim fairly often but the pool at the gym is overchlorinated and full of geriatrics most of the time so it's a bit of a disincentive. Will be interesting to see if hotels and such start picking those things up in the next few years.

Grats Bise! The cost in gas/time of the driving you were doing should offset after some time the cost of the Fastlane.

Was 37 here yesterday, so I got on the old wetsuit and took a warm shower. :p

That is pretty awesome Bise! I'm pretty sure we'll be getting one of those in our next house. Not because either of us are great swimmers but it would sure as heck help get us back in shape!

Swimming for exercise is awesome. I'm always intrigued when I see the endless pool type things advertised.

You'll have to let us know how well it really works, long term.

Well I have been using the Fastlane regularly and it is pretty nice! I have taken some pictures of the pool and the Fastlane with my kids cell phone.... does anyone have a way for me to up load them here? I could forward the pic's to you on the phone then you could post them?

Let me know.

I can also take an eight second video of me swimming but I would need someone here to be the camera man while I swam .... i could forward that also.

:)

I put my email in the "To" line and it said I didn't have that service .... So I think I know where it is supposed to go at least.

How close do you have to be for it to be effective?

Sorry Sanchek I didn't see this question.... I never go behind the first waterfall (edit my head, body goes behind a lot), but it has a remote which can increase and decrease speed.

At the speeds I swim approx 3 - 6 feet out seems optimal. But when it is on full force there is a current that goes all the way down the "wall" side of the pool and curves around and slightly blows back the other side.

The kids love it. They hang on to the bar, let the current blow them down the pool then swim back up the other side and do it all over :)

Ok so I'm confused. What does this do exactly? :) Forgive my ignorance please.

Basically lets you swim in place... Think of swimming against a river.

Treadmill for your pool.

Right it puts out a current for you to swim against... the analogy of swimming against a river is pretty accurate.... :)

People complain that is sounds boring, but if you have ever swam in a Master's Class or even just did laps , there is no way around the fact that swimming is boring.... I just "think" while I swim :)
