Today is the 64th anniversary of the death of FDR. Many loved him and many hated him, but he was a great man.

Reportedly Churchill was speechless for 5 min upon hearing of the death of FDR.

I listened to a good radio show that had many people calling in and talking about where they were, what they remember, and how they felt when they found out he died. It was on KGO. Was enjoyable.

Sorry Chan, have only just seen this post.

He was, indeed, a remarkable man. Very un-American, such as running for a third term and dragging America out of isolation, but in some ways *the* American, by creating a massive military establishment, spurring economic growth, and pretty much winning the war.

In some ways, I guess, he shaped the post-war nation that we now know as modern America.

One of the greats, IMO.
