Oprah supported an author, whose book then went to the best seller list making him a bunch of money. He turned out to be a phony.
Oprah supported Dr. Phil, who then went on to get his own show and make a bunch of money. He now is being investrigated for fraud, being not licensed to practice psychology.
Oprah supported a politician, umm, err, never mind.....

I couldn't be happier seeing Phil taken to the cleaners, but Oprah has supported many, many valid peoples, causes, books, etc. -- cherry-picking a couple to generalize to some other person is fallacious.

Yet it is the stuff Chain Emails are made of.
I heard he was a Muslim who took his oath of office on the Qu'ran while his racist pastor was giving Louis Farrakhan a handjob.

Ok, I may be fallacious (that sounds gay for some reason, which I am not, not that there is anything wrong with gays), but that was the first analogy/comparison out of my mother's mouth today, which I found hysterically funny at the time, her being a huge Oprah fan. It is funny, in that context.
And Rover, the Dr. Phil investigation was being reported on CNN or Fox or some cable news channel, with regard to his visiting Britney under the guise of "Dr. Phil"; the authorities are saying now he is not licensed to practice psychology and it was therefore a criminal offense to represent himself thusly. There was some mention of having had his license revoked, but I don't have all the info from the reports so can only toss out these teasers.

Dr.Phil is the biggest loser in the world... His smile makes me want to kick in my tv screen. And his voice super annoying.

Oprah also endorsed Dr. Jan Adams, who later killed Kanye West's mom during a surgery!
Dr. Phil's show is an unfrequent client of mine though and my bank account will miss him if his show disappears. He's brought me many a good tale to tell at bars including identical twin crack-whores operating just outside the House of Delegates in Annapolis, MD ... the guy who makes mascot costumes for a living that used to video tape his wife sleeping naked and put a GPS tracking device in the lining of her purse and in the headrest of her car so he always knew where she was ... and most recently, the old woman who had 8 dogs and no broom (http://www.potomacnews.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=WPN%2FMGArticle%2FWPN_BasicArti cle&c=MGArticle&cid=1173354087843&path=%21news)(grossest house ever!) who went into a Comcast office and broke their phone because they broke hers - using a hammer.

Hmmm Oprahgate incoming. You heard it here.
Will most likely be exclusively reported on on the OWN channel, which Oprah is going to own; it will replace the Discovery Health network. Set to debut next year.

I like Oprah :(
I enjoy her show when I catch it and I think she has supported many worthy causes. I do hate Dr. Phil though.

Oprah's show comes on at what time? 4 PM
Dr. Phil's show comes on at what time? 5 PM
Men come home from work at what time? 6 PM
Women are pissed off after getting 2 hours of stories of why men suck, as fathers/providers/lovers, ending just as he is walking in the door.
Coincidence? I think not...

Wow, oddly enough you just excluded the working women from your train of thought. Funny most deadbeat dads and men I know don't work anyway :p

Well, Oprah and Dr Phil rarely have on subjects where the woman is at fault, so women hardly ever get bashed by "I FREAKIN HATE YOUR GUTS" as they walk in from work....
And even when the subject might be 1 where the woman is at fault, they always turn it around on the husband somehow....
1 of the main reasons I hate both shows.

Idiot go look at this week's scheduling. Here, I'll even list one of the shows. Note the one about the mom who shopped her family broke? Yeah, women never face tough questioning or scrutiny on Oprah. Go back and argue with Jedd you quality of debate has been tainted.

My wife has forced me to watch more than my fair share of Oprah shows and I don't really get the impression that she's a man-basher.
Sixee

Sorry, after seeing a few of Oprah's shows that did exactly what I said, I've never had the desire to watch it again. I guess after 10 years she has had changed her format a bit....
That and the fact that almost none of those subject interest me (an Ob-Gyn) is probably another reason.
Dr Phil should have his man-card revoked, however.....

Oprah is under contract through 2011, but after that I wonder how much of the material such as Fil posted will be getting more in-depth exposure (or even before) on the OWN - Oprah Winfrey Network. I could see an entire season's worth of episodes of the dieting in Mississippi.
