This is kind of a mess tbh. Franken couldn't run a successful radio show and now is going to help lead a state?
Bush put this guy in place as much as anyone else. It's certainly not Franken's creds that did it.

Maybe, I was thinking it's because he was so far left he lost some of his core audience?

I don't know. I don't know much about him, and never listened to that network (or any others regularly).
Just didn't seem like a good comparison.

Heh, I like the fact he took a page from "W's" book and ran the recounts like the Pres did when Florida was in question....
What goes around, comes around?

Other than the the party hard liners on both sides, most of the comments I hear from folks is that neither candidate has demonstrated worthiness to have the office during and after the campaign.
An opinion I share.

He ran the recounts because the margin of victory was small enough that the law allowed for it. The main difference between this and Florida being he doesn't have that whore Katherine Harris as a Secretary of State to block certain recounts that he thinks wouldn't be beneficial to his campaign.
I've heard that this recount was surprisingly cordial given the circumstances, which was hardly the case in Florida.

actually doesnt minnesota state law demand an automatic recount if the margin is less than 1%?

As pointed out by Wiggo and Rover, and confirmed by me as a Minnesota resident, the recount was mandatory given the percentage difference.
Both camps have agreed to set conditions, only to then file legal briefs to change those conditions when they were looking like they might lose.
Both camps were making a mockery of the ballot challenge process, only to do complete turnarounds and seek to have more ballots counted than what the original election contained. Which, on the plus side, means fewer voters will be disenfranchised; but, that should have been a separate issue of poor election judges being looked at rather than the courts doing after the fact ballot acceptance and rejection.
If Ventura had not been doing his usual seductive dance with the media and whoring some attention with no intention of ever running, Dean Barkley might have had a chance to put together a more substantial campaign. It is going to offer an Independent a better chance to be included in the next campaign, I think, after being witness to this drama of the two parties.

I wonder if Min. would be better off with Ventura than either of these guys.

As Governor, Ventura got legislation passed to lower the taxes paid on vehicle registrations (which has since been raised back up). The reasoning behind this bold move????? He did not like paying so much to renew the tabs on his Porsche each year!
No, Minnesota is better off with him living as far away as possible.

Good point, hell I don't live there ( tho I've often thought of fishing up there) but the two gents running don't seem to be inpiring much confidence eh?

Heh, funny, but when the two were first named as party nominees for the campaign the attitude at the local VFW was one of "aww shit, this is going to be an ugly and long race". The two of them have done an equally excellent job of embarrassing the state.

MPR put it very succinctly:
Minnesota is going to be stuck with a Senator only 42% of the population voted for.
The majority of us will be disappointed, no matter who wins.
