This guy has to be the biggest wildcard out there in terms of the 2008 election.
Even though he is a Republican, I don't get that Neo-Con feel from him and I think alot of the things from his background make him a person with a perspective unique to the presidential field. I think he is announcing so late to avoid the pandering to the far right base that is destructive long term and is going to kill Romney
anyone else out there have early, strange favorites?

To be honest, I am completely unimpressed with the entire field of candidates, at this point.

Honestly he's not announcing late, it's the other candidates that announced insanely early forcing us to listen to their rhetoric way ahead of average start time.
Think it was Carter that started this ignorant announcing 18 months ahead of schedule bs ;(

I think the person who is going to win hasn't even started yet, they're just waiting for all these other assholes to burn out first.

I thought trolls had an immense dislike for gnomes?
I must have heard wrong... I heard Letterman was announcing his candidacy on West Wing...

That would be a very early announcement then, seeing that West Wing has not been doing new episodes for a year or so.

Their last season was 2 years ago. It may have been a sketch, however.

I think Thompson's popularity -- insofar as it exists -- is more indicative of a field of candidates that the GOP finds unsatisfactory.

Rumor has it that McCain is back in the race too.If that's the case, it's only because Giuliani is falling, Thompson isn't impressing anyone, and the GOP base doesn't trust Romney.

I think people are seeing Rudy is just an arrogant big city mayor, and not even remotely close to national leader or international statesman. And Thompson is just a distraction.
