Ok, here is an offer I have seen about a way to get a free Ipod or flat screen monitor/TV. Basically all you need to do is to click on one of my referral links and sign up for one of the offers (the one I am doing is just a new Ebay account and then make one losing bid). After that you just need 5 people (8 for the TV/Monitor) to use your link to sign up and complete the process. It appears to be completely legit and is a good way to get two very nice items for free.

Here are 2 links with more information:

http://fohguild.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=12027 (http://fohguild.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=12027) (this is the duiscussion on the ipod offer on the Fires of Heaven board, they also reference the free flatscreens)

http://www.getfreeipods.tk/ (http://www.getfreeipods.tk/) (this is a web sight that tells all about theoffer as well)

Finally here are my 2 reference links, if anyone is interested in this please use them. If anyone has a problem with this I apologize in advance, but it does not appear to be a scam.

iPod, like Apple? No.

This is a third party promotion company subsidizing the rewards with the advertising revenue they get from the companies you have to accept an "offer" from.

Say you sign up for an eBay account and place a bid, then eBay pays this company for you signing up. If you get x number of people to do the same with your referrer ID, then you get a free iPod paid for by the kickbacks they've received from you and your referrals.

They're banking on the fact that a lot of people will get some referrals, without reaching the limit. So, the promotion company gets 100% profit on those referrals.

okay I'll bite.

Here's my referal link.

http://www.freeipods.com/default.aspx

Essentially, all you do is sign up for a website (make sure you use an email address you can check). It will end up giving you a little bit of spam, but what's a bit more right? If nothing else just set up a Yahoo! account real quick.

Then, you sign up for one of the offers they have on the site. The one most people are using is the Ebay one near the bottom of the offers page. All you do is create a new account on ebay (use the same email addy), then go bid like, 5 bucks on a video camera or something you're sure that will sell for alot more then what you bid. You don't have to win the auction, you just have to have the highest bid. So find like a 7 day auction on a 500 dollar "Video Camera no reserver" while it's still a penny and bid 5 bucks. You'll lose, but for a brief, shining moment you'll be the top bidder.

It won't cost anyone a penny, just a few minutes to sign up for a few things you can forget about an hour from now and some spam email (again, just sign up for a Yahoo email acount quick.)

If the posting of the referral links is against the rules can we get it added to the posted rules under the FAQ section? I specifically checked there first before posting to begin with and there is nothing that seemed to say that this thread would be against the rules.

I guess we left some of the old rules out of the FAQ when we moved servers. We've never allowed pyramid scheme linking or advertising though, and that's not going to change. The free iPod deal is both.

OK. I would have never posted here if I had not checked the rules first and not seen it there. Sorry.

Yeah, we should have remembered to include those old rules in the FAQ. We'll update it when one of us gets a chance to.
