And, apparently, there are no surprises (http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2005/06/07/kerry_allows_navy_release_of_military_medical_reco rds/) or smoking guns. The records contain pretty much what Kerry said they did, contradicting allegations of the SBVT. Per the article, Kerry refused to release the records because it would be tantamount to kowtowing to the enemy. I think it pretty clear, however, that given the content of his records, releasing them would have gone a long way toward neutralizing an effective attack upon his campaign.
But Kerry refused, even though it turned out that the records included commendations from some of the same veterans who were criticizing him.

Not to rehash 2004, but because it was a sticking point in the Kerry campaign (and because he's considering a run in '08), I present it for the record.

I'm not too surprised but a little relieved. I never thought he was the best candidate, but clearly the best choice between the two. I do wish he released it during the campaign though to shut those aformentioned veterans the hell up with their lies and bullshit.

As a side note, his navy records also contain his grades from Yale. Nearly identical to Bush's grades there. So much for being the more intellectual candidate I guess. As I suspected, our choices were between two sub-standard candidates last election. I pray the next one offers better choices.

"It seemed like to me they based some of their decisions on the word of -- and the allegations -- by people who were held in detention, people who hate America, people that had been trained in some instances to disassemble -- that means not tell the truth."
-Bush, 5/31/05, responding to Amnesty International's International Report 2005 (http://web.amnesty.org/report2005/index-eng)
