Why is there no thread about gas prices? Anyway, there was a story on cnn.com that I can't find now where the USA energy chief says gas prices will stay high for at least 3 years, and the increase of gas prices is directly related to the increase in the cost of a barrel of crude.

My question is this; why does the price of crude increase 15% from 65$ to 75$, while the cost of gasoline (in my area) increases from 2.50$ a week ago to 3.50$ this week, a 40% increase. Does the 75$ crude cost more to refine than the 65$ crude? I dont think so. There is blatent price gouging going on here.

Something L2 said sometime ago; it takes about two months for the crude bought today to become the gas in my gas tank. When the crude jumps, the gas price jumps immediately. When the crude goes back down, it takes two months for the gas prices to drop. WTF is that.

My wife and I carpool in her economy car almost all days of the week. The other days I take my Harley. We are doing our part to be part of the solution and not the problem. How about you?
