I think I've had my fill of WoW, at least for the next little bit.
I've cancelled my subscription, though it still good till July and I'll probably be playing between now and then, but I can't see myself playing in six months time.
Still waiting for all the new goodies to come out (Age of Conan, and yes, even if they're under the SOE umbrella, maybe even Vanguard and Gods & Heroes, who knows?), but looking to kill time in the meantime. I'm just curious if anyone had any suggestions?
I can't see myself paying to play Auto Assault. It was a blast, but....I dunno.....something keeps my wallet in my pocket. Maybe a lack of depth?
A lot of the open betas out there right now (and even some of the closed ones...yes, I'm looking at your Chronicles of Spellborn!) are just outright shit and are not worth playing.
I guess I'm looking for a new drug. Any suggestions?

http://www.eve-online.com/ It's a sci-fi MMO, with some interesting features:
* It's not sharded. Everyone that plays is on the same "server". Eve just hit 26,000 simultaneous logins today, and all 26,000 of them were on the same "server". (The galaxy consists of over 5,000 star systems, so people aren't too badly crowded in.)
* Your skills train in real-time, even when you're logged off. That means that you can make progress in the game skill-wise without having to play constantly.
* The economy is almost entirely player driven. Most of the stuff on the market was made by players (especially the higher end ships.)
* Lots of meaningful PVP. Over half of the game is totally open to PVP. In the other parts, PVP may provoke some sort of reaction from the NPC "guards", depending on how secure a system is. You can put up smaller stations to take control of systems, to mine minerals from moons, and to provide a forward base of operations. You can also take control of systems and stations from other people.
Here are some screenshots:
Me hunting some NPCs (upper right). Towards the middle you can see two of my drones (think swarm pets, but with better control), and my ship is down towards the lower left:

This is the ISS Marginis outpost. This is a player-built and player-owned structure. It takes a MASSIVE amount of work to put up an outpost, something only an Alliance (a grouping of corporations, Eve's guilds) can do. The grouping of little white dots to the left of the planet (in the near middle of the shot) is the fleet I was in when I took this screenshot.

Another fleet shot. From left to right, top to bottom: Armageddon battleship, Ferox battlecruiser, Megathron battleship, Incursus frigate (I was flying the Incursus):

A near full-on broadside from my Megathron battleship:

Here's a couple of cool Eve images. The first is a ship chart from before the previous expansion, Red Moon Rising. (Fair warning, these images are LARGE.)
Older ship chart (http://www.eve-files.com/media/0603/Ship_Chart_4096_With_Big_Names.jpg).
The largest ships on that chart (the Moros, Revelation, Phoenix, and Naglfar) are dreadnaught capital ships.
The second image is a ship chart from after RMR was released. It includes the new capital ships: titans (and carriers, too.)
Current ship chart (http://www.eve-files.com/media/corp/defcon/eve_chart-rmr.jpg)
This largest ships on this chart are the Titans. Compare those to the dreadnaughts .
The ships really do differ that much in size.
14-day trials are available for Eve.

I always go back to this great WC3 map when I'm down with MMO games. :)

The one problem with DOTA is that its all pickup groups that generally have some sort of issues. It'd be nice if Blizzard built this into their rankings system so that people who were newer would play against other newer players and that everyone wouldn't be inclined to leave immediately.

Dare I say it, after looking at the Faydwer expansion, I'm feeling the temptation of trying EQ2 LMAO. Yes, it's that bad LOL.
Gonna keep trucking with WoW for now I think, at least until my account expires or until something new pops up on the horizon.

Wow, that does sound pretty awesome. The problem is EQ2 is so expansion heavy, you can't really stay caught up ... the exact opposite of WoW.

Yeah, I hear ya. It's almost too fast.
Faydwer was always my favorite continent in EQ. I used to spend a load of time there. So many awesome zones there that hardly anyone went to. They had a certain flavor that the newer ones just didn't have. Kunark was good, as was Velious, but I found once Luclin came along, all the new zones were all about specific exp camps and flags/raids rather than enjoying the zone. Damn you Brad McQuaid! Damn you!!!!!
