Ok, I have 98 invites left for GMail accounts. PM me with your email address and I'll send an invite. I go on vacation next week, so if I don't get you in the next few days, I'll send the invite when I get back in November.

I think it's a safe bet anyone who wanted into gmail is and has a 100 invites to give out themselves.

hrmm I'm using Netscape mail 7.2 and it isn't downloading the Gmail email. I entered all the instructions via their website.

I think you have to set something in the gmail settings also, before it'll work. Did you do that?

yeah I've saved the gmail settings to accept pop.

I am getting the messages on the gmail server, it just isn't downloading them into netcape or whatever...

Are you getting an error in the mail program? Try something like mail2web.com to figure out if the problem is with GMail or on your end.

not getting an error of any sort which is wierd. IT just acts like there is no mail to download from gmail or something because it isn't pulling it down from them.

I have gmail set to accept pop...I put in port 587 like it said and to connect via SSL so at this point I'm at a loss.

When I was looking at it, there was an option to make new mail available for POP or make all mail available. Make sure it's set to all mail.

yeah it is set to that. netscape mail keeps churning like it is trying to connect but it can't and never times out or something.

I'm not sure if it is because of the SSL connection and 587 port or what. I have tried it at the regular port 995 (if SSL enabled) and without SSL and it still doesn't want to download! grr

I have the pop server @ pop.gmail.com which is what it said to do. This is insane....

Try logging in to it through mail2web.com and see if you can get it to find your mail there.

Well, it means the POP on GMail is set up right. Maybe try looking through the settings in Netscape that aren't on the setup guide. Are there send/recieve groups like in Outlook, where you could have the account set up right but not set to check by default?

interesting.

I just set it up in outlook 2003 and it worked. They gave different instructions re: the port and whatnot for outlook. Let me try to change the settings yet again and see if it works in netscape.

-----------------------------------

Ok I got netscape to work. They tell you to change the SSL port from 995 to some other number which is a typo or something. It now decided to work when left on default ports (even though I tried this a few min ago).

Thanks for the help sancek!
