I am going to download it as soon as I get home from work tonight and put it through its paces.

I don't care if it's better or worse than Firefox, I just care that it eats into IEs share of the market. The less IE we have in this world the better we will all be.

I have a dream, that dream is a market with 100% WC3 compliant browsers, it will make my CSS nightmares dissapte with great haste!

Since it's based on Webkit, it should do well in that category.

I really like it, so far. Would kill for some of my missing Firefox extensions though.

IE8 will be CSS compliant, finally.

Holy crap, Sanchek likes (Apple) WebKit. <3

Well, I do detest Safari.

I find Chrome to be a much nicer implementation of Webkit.

Question:

What does one need to do to fix a website that says you have an unknown user agent when you visit it? I don't know what to do and I doubt seriously the web admin does either.

Sanchek

There's not much you can do. The website is poorly designed.

With some browsers you can tell the browser to identify itself differently to the website. It can pretend to be IE or Firefox or whatever they're officially supporting.

I've decided that using the Internet without AdBlock is miserably painful.

Well that's good to know as I have been working, fairly diligently, on a study of lesbianism using some good research resources with hidden cameras placed in their nests. I am wondering now if my study, which I hoped to keep the results quite secret for the time being, is common knowledge here.

Dragging tabs into new windows is nifty. Seamlessly dragging tabs containing playing YouTube video into or between windows is impressive.

Couldn't something like Privoxy serve as a substitute for that?

Sanchek

Maybe so. A HOSTS file can do the same even easier.

Neither can collapse the blocked elements like AdBlock does though. Hopefully, they'll get a extension API in Chrome soon, or someone will start releasing AdBlock integrated builds.

I found an add-on for FF that lets me view that website hopefully a similar add-on will be written for Chrome. I like browser competition and hate IE :(

Personally dont like it much myself. Think I will stick with Firefox.

But interesting though. Google one step closer to world dominance:).

The collecting your traffic in TOS was neat. Guess collecting/using data on every search wasnt making enough dough haha.

Well, I'm back to Firefox for now. Chrome shows serious potential though.

/agree,

There are too many FF add ons that I rely on heavily.

Chrome has a great start and if they keep on adding features (which I am sure they will) then I will have to give it serious thought.

Or, maybe the Firefox guys will borrow from the Chrome innovations.

I'm sure they will to better stay in the game. For now I'm lazy and just use IE7, but I have used Firefox in the past. I would try Chrome but I don't like to have a collection of redundant programs that do basically the same thing, minor extra features excluded.

As long as you're not using IE6.

I agree, FF has too many things I use day in and day out. I just wish I could load FF for my work PC but alas healthcare vendors are terrible at certifying their apps on anything other than IE. It's sad. :(

Why does everyone hate IE so much?

For the previous five or so years i have used Firefox exclusively. About three months ago I noticed Firefox crashing like ALL-THE-TIME. I stopped using it and began using IE. For me, there is no difference between the two programs. I don't use favorites or any plugins; is that why there isn't much of a difference for me? Just curious!:mad:

Yes.

I make exclusive use of about 5 add-ons in Firefox that make my web development a breeze compared to two years ago. I can't imagine living without them now.

IE and Microsoft on a whole for that matter has WAY to many cons from my point of view to consider using any of their products besides XP and Word. The urge to buy into Mac grows stronger everyday.

If google introduces the add-on functionality I use in FF it will make the move to Chrome that much more enticing.

Open Source FTW!

Noticed an option to download Chrome on Hulu this morning, and recalled this thread. Has anyone had any further experience with Chrome over the last year since any comments were made? Has there been any improvement, or anything that would make it an acceptable alternative to FF? Not that I am in any hurry to replace FF.

Sanchek

If you don't use Firefox addons that you can't live without, Chrome is definitely faster than Firefox, Safari, or IE.

The primary reason I don't use Chrome on the Windows desktoy is that it inherits the network libraries and configuration stuff that IE uses, which is a PITA in a corporate environment. FF at least lets you override that. It also means they inherited that SSL vulnerability that Firefox fixed months ago, although it's possible MS finally got around to putting in that 10 line fix.
