I hear the expansions for this are all stand alones and aren't needed or something. But can't find anything specific. Anyone ever play this or the expansion? If I want to play it - what should I buy to start?

I do know its a standalone and you dont need other expansions or the original game to play it, never got into guild wars myself.

I have two accounts for the original guild wars. Don't have any of the expansions. Get all of it and I'll start up again!

A good number of my friends from highschool are planning to play this while we wait for either a new MMORPG or Burning Crusade. Problem is the huge investment to buy all the expansions and the original game (like over $100) :(

Well, all I have is the original. You play through the missions in a linar fassion, but there's always "free exploring" areas and quests that you can do. If you're just looking for something to dink around with for a little while and don't see yourself investing a huge amount of time in it, you could just buy the original and play through it.

My question: Is this game any good? I see allot of people who play it or who say they do but not much commentary on the quality or playability. I'm so thoroughly bored with games atm I need to find something new to try. VG beta is helping some but not allot.

Darting back and forth between EQ2 and EvE Online atm.

Is it fun? I am thinking about picking it up and is it a resource hog..in other words if I can run EQ (running an older PC) will it run Guild wars?

I truthfully always had a lot more problems running EQ than most of the games I play now, but my computer is only 4 years old.

guildwars was ok didn't keep my intrests as all it did was get harder at higher level.. pvp was ok nothing fun like old times, at cross roads in WoW


battelfield 2142 is keeping my attention now tho.
