I really hope we are not going to continue this repeat of Vietnam.

I saw the title of the thread, and my first thought was "Everybody needs to watch that movie before they shoot their mouths off about war." That was one of the better shot battle movies regarding Nam that I have seen, in that it captured everything from the chaos and violence of the moment to the full emotional gamut a soldier experiences in such conditions.
Recommend highly!

It was indeed a great film. very moving. one scene where they are panning across the battlefield and the soldier is stuffing his guts back inside himself has stuck with me forever.

The sad part is the movie was true.
Anyhow, Sanchek, would you be so kind to point me to the "How to embed youtube video thread you made.

The sad part is the movie was true.
Which is why I am recommending it so highly. Apocalypse Now captured a lot of the reality of that war, but could not avoid adding a touch of glamor and sensationalism due to Coppola directing. A good movie nonetheless, but Hamburger Hill is the real deal.
