OPened a new thread so people would remain spoiler free.
My opinion:
Conveying the basic premise of the book they did a good job on. As with all books to movies parts are left out, but wow the cut and paste job here was kind of bad.
Luna ROCKED, perfect.
Umbridge PERFECT.
The totally left out the mischevious ghost, they neglected to mention that harry gave the twins a ton of cash to open their own shop, Umbridge kicking the crap out of McGonagal with the help of Malphoy(spelling), and they slaughtered the ministry of magic fight, cut it to about a third.
Again i enjoyed the movie, on a side note I am happy the Hermione is 18+ now so i dont feel dirty any more.

Daniel Radcliff shares my birthday, he's just 7 years behind :)
But on topic ... I felt like it wasn't very good. Yes, they had to cut and paste and I can appreciate that but the story didn't even make much sense. They kept the action but a lot of the reasoning behind it was left on the cutting room floor.
Luna and Umbridge were great. Tonks, Lupin, and the rest of the Order placed SUCH a small role in the film, and Harry being cut off at the fire place and knowing no one in the order was left - but there was 1 person, Snape ... none of that came across well.
Even visually when Fred and George made their leave (lets not even start on the lack of Peeves) they didn't do as much damage as they did in my head. The whole staff vs Umbridge just didn't exist. Hell, half of the staff wasn't even in the book. And the Gwap scene didn't make as much sense as it did in the book. Generally I enjoyed all the movies until now. They almost have to make the 6th and 7th 2-part films or they will just leave so much out it just won't be worth watching.

Just got back from seeing it in 3D which I'm glad I did b/c I didn't think it was all that great. It's entertaining but not as good as some of the others; I dunno maybe it's just getting old to me now. The 3D didn't happen until the fight at ministery of mystery. It definitely added a wow factor to the special effects. Kasey love it though and that's all that really matters :)

I'm rereading 5 and keep gawping at all the stuff missing. They wrote out the mirror that linked Sirrus to Harry, they wrote out Sirrus's family (mother), the bogart in the chest that kills all the Weasleys, even Percy was written out of it.
Long story short, watch the movies AFTER reading the books, and maybe don't even watch the films. I can't wait for the 21st.

It was okay in my opinion. Not anything fantastic, they cut out all the non-action parts it felt like, which sort of made it make less sense.
