But does anyone have a Windows 98 Second Edition OEM CD laying around? Need to repair a customer's machine and their CD is all scratched up after they misplaced it in the bottom of a drawer.

What do you want me to do with it when I tell you I have one?
Do you need it to be OEM? When you're doing an over-the-top 9x install you'll need to re-use the original key used (even though you can make them up on the fly). Fortunately, it's saved in:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion in the ProductId key. Grab it first before you do the re-install.

Well, when I say repair I mean "completely dead hard drive making clicking noises" so yes, I need an OEM CD to do a completely clean install from scratch using an OEM System Builder's PreInstall disk I whipped up.
If you have it Palimax, would it be possible to ftp it from you?

I think the only one I have handy is a X-in-1 95/98 CD. You can do a bare drive install from it.

I can snag a 98 OEM in about 5 minutes, but I don't have anywhere to push it to. [Not sure I have enough space on base-nine.]
I've also got the MSDN DVD here at my desk. (And access to the VLS server at Microsoft.)

Ok, sending you a PM with info, if you can snag the 98 OEM CD.

It actually took LONGER to copy it out of the temp directory and onto my desktop. (Seriously...)
This is all in your mail, but it's on my desktop, and I have a fresh copy of the VLA edition coming in from Microsoft directly, but I can't host that on my site.
If you wanna publish a directory or share somewhere, I'll dump it to 'ya after I get back from lunch, or sooner if you act fast :)

The Easynews copy is incoming to your FTP now, and I'm going to lunch. Feel free to call me on my cellular if you find you need the VLA edition from Microsoft when it gets here in 93 minutes.
Number is in your Ezboard inbox.

I work for a large consulting company, in support of a large west-coast healthcare corporation.
I work at their Enterprise Data Center in downtown Phoeinx.
At home, I only get 300k/bits, not the 300K/bytes I get at work.

I have a standing offer in Phoenix. If you're an adult, I'll gladly buy you a beer at the downtown bar of your choosing.
I work at (roughly) Central and Thomas, and I live close enough to Bank One Ballpark that we tow on game-days. *looks out his window* The roof is closed tonight.

Hey now, no location threads you punks! Episte, you're getting a warning.
And for those of you still getting out of bed, this is one of those, "j/k LOELZ" moments.

If you're doing a format/reinstall, why are you using a 5-year old OS?
Episte Renshai

Because that's all the existing hardware/budget will support. And it's what my customers are used to.
