With election tuesday. Thought start up a post that people could say if they voted or not. No political arguments please.

Maybe if there is a lot of support might encourage people who werent going to vote to vote.

Or, if you don't care for Mr. Moore, you can always watch "Pump Up The Volume" with Christian Slater. The song "Everybody Knows" by Leonard Cohen was featured in that movie, and it is a good song for this election. Other than that, the movie has about as much relevance to the election as Moore's movie does, IMO. Moore's movie was a joke, as is being exposed more and more on an almost daily basis.

Just be sure to vote, please.

Not true.
Have you seen the movie? I suppose you have not. Otherwise you would accually understand that his latest movie DOES have with the election to do. He reveals the god damn truth about the republican president! Final.

Good grief I have never seen this much traffic in York PA this time of the morning. Allot of people are voting, I had a relatively short wait since I got there early (15 min or so). But, I hate it for those poor souls who came after me.

I got to the polls at 6:30 this morning. (they didn't open til 7). Thank goodness they at least had the doors open for us to wait inside. (it was cold and rainy) I was first in line (wooohoo), about 10 mins after I got there the rest of them started pouring in. I told my husband he might want to tell his boss he will be coming in late from his lunch break. If it was that busy at 7 when I left (line already around the hall), I hate to see what it will be like on his lunch break.

Left the house at 7:30 (lucky me stayed home sick for second day in a row:( ), and was back home 45 minutes later after casting my vote.

Traffic was starting to get pretty bad as I was leaving the polling place, so I imagine it is going to be much worse as the day rolls on.

As for Psydex and his fascination with Moore and his movie, let me assure you #1, I did not vote for Bush and #2, I did indeed see Moore's movie and #3, Moore distorts the "truth" in the same way as the Taliban distort the Koran; i.e. he finds the one little piece or sentence that fits what he wants to push as his agenda and builds everything else around it to make it work.

He has no credibility. I seriously hope anyone who votes against Bush has better reasons than having seen a propaganda movie. I know my reasons for voting against him were much more important to me than anything in that silly movie. And, I also hope that those voting against Kerry do so based on more important reasons than those disgusting Swift Boat ads.

Get out and vote folks.

WHOOO HOOO!!! 700 votes found on Philly voting machines BEFORE polls open! This is going to be a long night/week/month. Here's the story behind this, from the AP wire:
An army of zealous, partisan political operatives descended on polling locations around the state Tuesday, looking for any signs of voting irregularities, and election officials planned to spend the day investigating fraud allegations. Republican observers in Philadelphia lodged some of the earliest complaints, claiming that voting machines in the city already had thousands of votes recorded on them when the polls opened at 7 a.m.

City election officials and the district attorney rushed to some of the precincts in question, and quickly said the GOP poll watchers had gotten it wrong.

Deputy City Commissioner Ed Schulgen and Cathie Abookire, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Lynne Abraham, said the observers had pulled the numbers from an odometer that records every vote ever cast on the machine in every election - and not the counter that records how many votes will be counted for this election.

"It's absolutely ridiculous," Schulgen said.

Ridiculous or not, rumors of widespread fraud quickly made their way on to the Internet and circulated nationally. From Marge Tartaglione, Philadelphia City Commissioner:
"Recent press reports have stated that machines in at least one precinct were not properly calibrated to ensure an accurate accounting of the number of votes cast." "These allegations are completely unsubstantiated and have no factual
basis whatsoever."

there are things in the moore movie that are extremely moving, that said, by no means is it an unbiased completely truthful account of Bush's term in office. And I'm a Kerry voter.

edit to add: i drove 3 blocks to vote, waited in line 2 hours (1 in the rain) at 10 am this morning. Wife went to same poll 30 mins before it opened and still waited an hour after the polls opened to vote. Looks like the rain hasn't affected voter turnout too horribly today here in Ohio. That said, of the people that I talked too inline, i've have to say 90% of them were voting for Kerry. I live in a diverse, middle class neighborhood, and voted in a church.

My voting story:

Drove about 12 minutes, walked in (mine was held in a local Senior citizens center), voted, and left.

Oh yeah, and my personal appreciation (FWIW) to those who stand hours in lines (sometimes in the rain) to vote. That honestly deserves a lot of credit, no matter who you vote for.

I voted for Bush. I live in NYC, which does not mean my vote really helps...it just ensures that it will not be a shutout by Kerry in the Big Apple.

I just hope whoever wins will win by enough that there are no questions, legal problems etc...4 more years of "selected, not elected" will give me an ulcer.

I don't think that we can possibly have a problem free election this year. If there somehow were no problems both sides would probably just make some up. I am prepared for this election to go down in history as the worst ever. I just hope that if I am right we will see alot of reforms made to fix the system.

I would be surprised if in Rudy Giuliani does not run in 2008.

If its Bush today, 2008 could be Rudy vs. Hillary....that would be a fun one

If its Kerry today Rudy vs. Kerry would depend alot on how the next 4 years go.

Rudy is a very polarizing figure. He was not nearly as popular before 9/11 as he became after it. He did some things that make you scratch your head (ie: removing funding for a public art gallery because he found one of the paintings offensive)

The people who like him, love him though. He is a tough on crime, non-appeaser who is mostly centrist as a republican.

He could be the next Republican star, imo.

Oh and about Pataki running before Giuliani...not a chance. Pataki is nowhere near the star power that Giuliani is. Next time around the dems will probably bring out Hillary meaning the the repubs need someone with huge-ass name recognition. At the moment there are only two who fill the bill. Rudy and Governor Terminator. There is that pesky law about only US born citizens becoming president, so that counts him out.

Its going to be Rudy in 2008, put the money on it now and get good odds.
