He has ALS. So log into EQ2, kill Kurt Schilling, and help out space and time research. :)

He is almost completely paralyzed. However, consider that at 21 (in 1963) he was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease)--he was told that he would not survive more than two or three years.
He is still active as a physicist and professor. It's amazing that he can give lectures entirely by twitching his right cheek, not to mention all of the mathematical work that has to be done entirely in his head...
Heh, I learned something myself. I knew he had lent his computerized "voice" to episodes of the Simpsons and Futurama, but I didn't realize that he actually played himself on an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
When taking a tour of the set, he paused at the Warp core, smiled, and said "I'm working on that."

LOL +rep for that
On a side note....Stephen Hawking is a renowed author and scientist. Probably his most famous book is "A Brief History in Time". But he's also had a few cameos on Star Trek TNG.
EDIT: LOL you beat me to it :p
