but there have to be snide comments. After all, if you can't find them, what are the odds that you could get the burner working?

Here's a couple suggestoins.
You don't get much for free. You get crap and headaches. Go out, spend $20 and get an unlimited Blockbuster pass or a Netflix membership. I have one. It's the bee's knees.
Spend a couple bucks a months and get binary newsgroup access from a good provider (like Easynews).
Or, just dick around with IRC servers and BitTorernts and get half of a movie, and be pissed off. For fuck's sake, you're spending at least $.75 a disc for media, spend a couple bucks on Bandwidth.
Finally, go buy the good ones. I'm no saint. I copy a TON of stuff, but I buy the stuff worth buying. If it's in my library and it's on DVD-R, it's either shit, or I'm working on upgrading it.

Family Video works pretty well for me. I can usually get about 2~3 free rentals a month. 4 if they got any new employee's.

Pali do you recommend any DVD to DVD+R burning applications?
