in other words, my desktop resolution made everything humongous, and I couldnt access the resolution bar on the desktop properties tab, startup menu, my computer, all because they appeared too low on the screen....

you can't right click on the desktop and go to properties?

Right click desktop, go to properties and click on settings tab being very carefull not to click again. Now hit tab once, and use your right directional key to adjust the resolution up a few notches, hit enter, and then you should have a functional resolution.

FYI all the underlined letters in windows can be acivated by pressing the "ALT" key and holding it down while pressing the underlined letter.Such as the "F" in File.

So if you know the underlined letter of the function you're trying to do, try that.

I believe any and all functions of windows can be used without a mouse.

Well except for mouse control funtions hehe.

If your problem is not resolved, it's because you havent installed your video drivers and substitute drivers are in place. The screen resolution cannot go above 800x600 on winXP's substitute drivers. Solution: Install the drivers.

Also to turn off the comp, make sure no programs are running and press alt-F4 and hit enter.
