I would be serioulsy P'O'd if something like this happened to me and my two dogs were shot. I had in instance a while back in my own yard were in one split second something like this could of happened. I was in my garage cleaning one of my hunting rifles, near the back door that was open with my dog standing next to me. All of sudden I had 4-5 Swat team members move by my door, here I am standing there holding a rifle with my dog next to me. So glad he didn't bolt out the door after them. They were moving through the neihborhood at the time apparently someone was threating to kill themselves so they moved on his house.

Watching the related videos, note:

"There was no affadavit of probable cause"

"This wasn't about the mayor, his family or his home it was about the drugs"

Very scary....time to really really change some laws and get us that constitution back.

Some heads need to roll on this one....I mean jail time for the officials behind this operation. That is gross, gross incompetence.

Authorities say the package was part of a scheme in which drugs (http://topics.cnn.com/topics/illegal_drugs) are mailed to unknowing recipients and then intercepted.

They knew they were innocent of any crime going in and they burst in and kill the family dogs!!

Absolutely no excuse.

That is unreal, I noticed that too. They knew it was part of this scheme, they even had a cop deliver the package.

That's sickening.

I hope the mayor has clout enough to bring down some sort of retribution.

I didn't see this in the CNN article:

Calvo insisted the couple's two black Labradors were gentle creatures and said police apparently killed them "for sport," gunning down one of them as it was running away.

Yeah, this was definitely an out-of-hand situation. Not worth some marijuana imo.

Everyone involved in the planning and authorization of this operation needs to be fired, and brought before a judge for restitution; the officers that actually broke into the home and fired the shots need suspensions, along with the officer in charge, and some hefty fines.

Unless there's something we're not being told, the article reads that the police broke the law, and should not only be fired but charged accordingly.

All I know is there would be some dead fucking cops if this had happened to me. Shameful. If a soldier does something like this, we'd be crucified. It's about time our civilian law enforcement gets the same treatment.

My reasoning for not going harder on the officers on the scene is that they were following the procedures of an operation that higher-ups had put in place and, while they definitely should have questioned the legality, they were ostensibly carrying out an authorized action when they broke into the home. Suspensions and fines, which will stay on their record and affect their careers, may be sufficient for them. The higher ups, though, need some serious attention.

The issue of shooting the dogs is a separate matter.

The shooting of the dogs was what I was reacting to.

Police undergo extensive training to avoid unnecessary gunfire. I know many cops have a strong dislike of dogs they don't know, but...

why would you tase someone with a broken back 19 times? The cops say they shouldn't be questioned, WTF?

Why would you taser an unarmed person lying on their back on the shoulder of the road?

The cops should not be questioned; they should be charged with aggravated assault!

About 2 years ago or so there was an incident in my town here where the cops tasered someone who had known heart issues, and was definately not a threat, and the tasering killed him. The cops of course answered no questions and the incident quickly dissappeared.

A bit off topic here, aren't these articles able to be interpreted as sedition with the way things are now? Or am I just tired...

The Prince George's County Sheriff's Office has concluded in an internal review that its deputies were justified when they shot and killed two dogs belonging to the mayor of Berwyn Heights during a July drug raid, Sheriff Michael Jackson said yesterday.

...

Calvo rejected Jackson's conclusions yesterday, saying sheriff's deputies have not interviewed him or his mother-in-law about their accounts of the incident. Both were home at the time of the raid. Their arms were bound behind their backs, and they were questioned about the package while the body of one dog lay nearby.

"The fact that they've done an internal review without contacting the victims of their raid, the people whose house they stormed through, shows they're not very interested in the actual facts," he said.
