One of the three victims of San Francisco Zoo tiger attack was intoxicated and admitted to yelling and waving at the animal while standing atop the railing of the big cat enclosure, police said in court documents filed Thursday.

If he's still alive and able to reproduce, he can't win a darwin award. His friend however, if doing the same things, would qualify.
Though, really, I don't see how taunting an animal behind glass/bars in a zoo should cause a person to really believe they'd be in any amount of danger. People ARE going to taunt animals in a zoo. It may not be the right thing to do, but it will happen. The zoo has a responsibility to all their customers to ensure a safe enviornment. It's already been shown that the walls were significantly lower than the accepted height for said walls.

Bieng drunk and tauntung the cat in the zoo is probably going to throw a wrench into any lawsuit for getting attacked. What a moron.

I didn't say he should sue, but the Zoo should still ensure that the walls are at least the recommended height, not about 60% of the recommended 20 ft high.
I don't know about you guys, but it seems wrong to me that the walls around the tigers was only 12 ft tall. That seems like an accident waiting to happen. I'm glad this happened to a few drunken idiots and not a small child.

While last I checked, I could hurl a small child over a 12 ft. wall into a tiger cage, it's unusual for kids to demonstrate such ability on their own.

I'm not so sure about that, there would have to be a reasonable degree of safety that one would expect in a zoo. I would think that because the
tigers are considered "wild" that there would be a certain degree of behavioral unpredictability that is inherent in them. I believe that most animals consider staring at them directly in the eyes is a taunt.

LOL you read what I said so incorrectly. I wasn't in any way saying someone would throw a child into the tiger cage. My point is, if the tiger jumped/climbed out to get a drunken idiot, the same could have happened to a small child that pissed off the tiger too.
If the tiger could get out, the tiger could get out... period. The fact that the zoo had been told in the past that the walls around the tiger were below standard height, and now a tiger gets out looks bad.

I don't care what kind of drugs I'm on, I should be able to assume that the tiger cage is high enough that it isn't going to jump over and maul me. Like Taleren, my first thought was what can be construed as "taunting". It's an animal, not a reasoning human being. The constant references to alcohol and drug use in the situation are very blatant attempts to mitigate the responsibility of the zoo by drawing on the retarded set of morals that many people in our country still hold.

Blame MADD, whether the fence was to low and the moat to narrow. If you tease, taunt an animal and then get attacked is it the owners fault. after all this time the tiger has been there some drunks kids finally get the tiger pissed enough to come maul them.
Will be interesting to follow since it will just come down to who is more at fault. Im sure there has already been lawsuits filed in the case. Its only the American way to sue.

Thats the thing with this. i've been to that Zoo and it is really old, was very cool but I remember liking it because it was really close up and personal like. not like some of the more modern zoo's i've seen.
These retards had to be doing some a bit more than just taunting! 50 plus years of operation and this one Tiger just happens to figure out " hey, looks like i could i just jump and clear that fence".
not buying it.
