Ok, just curious about how this works. Lets say you enter a zone and you are the only one in the zone. Now there is this certain camp that you want, and being the only one in the place, you think, cool I got it! So, you fight your way to campsite and there is a corpse lying there in the middle of a fully spawned camp. now, bear in mind that not only is it full spawn, but not a single percent of life is gone from any of the mobs. so, you look at this picture and think some poor soul wiped here at some point and you proceed to clear the camp, still alone in the zone. Well, lets say about mid way through clearing the camp, the owner of said corpse wanders up, loots the corpse and then turns to you saying that these mobs are camped. He says he died here while camping the area. What do you do? Is this guy telling the truth or has his corpse been there since the day before? Does a corpse hold a camp? Just something I would like some opinions on, thanks.

But seriously,

Most people would think that you were in the right being that you came upon the camp in an empty zone, until you are the one who f'ed up and died and had to run back for your body to find another yahoo killing your mobs.

Well, thats just it, I HAVE been on the other end and returned only to find someone killing "my" mobs. Anytime that has happened to me, I have looked at it like, oh well I just lost my camp.:\

Target the corpse and /con it and see how long the person has been dead if you are really worried.

I'm pretty sure this goes back to guk days, that when you wipe, you lose the camp. People can just be whiny bitches sometimes.

Whoever has the biggest e-cock always wins. If some lowbie tried to steal a camp I wiped in, I'd steal it right back!

It's all about the e-cock baby...

Yes, Daddio, while that method is totally expected from IVM, I, on the other hand, was looking for the more civil and socially acceptable way of handling the situation.

although "camps" in EQ technically dont exist, anyone with any integrity acknowledges that they do. as far as if someone dies, do they lose the camp? imo yes. its part of the game. the game isnt fun unless there is some risk involved in trying something new and dangerous. If you die (whether it be because you suck, you dumbed out, or even LD/lag issues), it sux, but you lost the camp. There are some extenuating circumstances though. for instance, if some dumbass/asshole trains you and you die, and upon returning you find someone has taken your camp, you should be able to work something out with the new person in the camp. and while i dont believe the new person in your camp has the obligation (unless they were the ones to train you) to give you your camp back, imo its the right thing for them to do.

con the corpse,t tells you how old it is. If the guy JUST died 2 mins ago, give him a yell.

I mean if its just a faggy lil exp camp then fuck him,but if its a rare spawn type thing,id con the corpse.

If leaving a corpse in a camp lays claim to it, Im gonna bust "Richards" all over the place and leave fishing grubs on 100 corpses spread out in every camp I could ever want, and have a field day of kicking people out of MY camps!

If you die, gate, evac, whatever ... you lose the camp - at least, that's the way I look at it. Now, usually, I'll give someone the benefit of the doubt, simply because I've had my share camp losses due to death/evac/etc.

One time, I had the NG camp all to my lonesome and made the mistake of pulling the Leprous scarab. Didn't know it summoned (oops) and didn't figure how to handle it fast enough. Evac'd. There were a couple peeps by the camp. I sent 'em a tell and told 'em I would be fighting my way back, but the camp was theirs. When I did get back, they were gracious enough to invite me into their group, and we had a good (and profitable) time.

My point is - communicate. Most people in the game are good sports.
