Terrible year to be a Mets fan. 7 Game lead in first place with 17 games remaining, they fail to make the playoffs. Unbelievable.

Yankees are in though. :heart

I'd love to see Cubs and Indians in the World Series, so that one of them gets off the snide.

cubs vs sox would be porbably the most watched WS ever. excluding NY, those two teams have imo the most amount of die hard fans.

I still stand by me preseason statement. I'd like the yanks to win it, but if they don't then go Cubs.

Both the yankees and Red Sox being swept in round one would be glorious.

PWN! PLease while the yankees will have issue with Sabathia, the Sox have a potent offense and the most amazing pitching staff since the hayday of the braves in the late 90's. (granted they dint win a series they didnt have Big Papi)

I never said I expect it to happen. That type of statement would require me to actually follow the sport.

Phillies and Cubs suck. Lets get Cleveland the win for the trifecta.

Still life in my Yankees yet! The bugs in game 2 seriously changed the outcome of that game. Two more games to go!

I dunno Trikki, Clevelands bullpen is not nearly as effective as Bostons, and they are struggling with that. Even game 3, Westbrook was doing very well for 5 innings.

Was Westrbrook really pitching that well? Or was it a case of the Yankee bats going cold? The Yankees are the best hitting team in MLB, they can hit off anybody. Hopefully, yesterday's game woke their bats up.

How about those rookie pitchers? Hughes came in for an injured Roger Clemens and pitched a hell of a game, as did the big guy, Jobba the Hut. Only to see the game closed out by the best closer ever to throw a baseball, Mariano Rivera.

Yankees swept Cleveland in the regular season, and have an advantage against Boston in the regular season. But, we all know....this isn't the regular season!

Yankees are the best hitting team in MLB you are correct but they also have the highest ERA of any team in the playoffs.

Mariano Rivera is the best closer, only because Papelbon is in his 3rd year, give him a couple :P

Yes, Westbrook was pitching well, he got tired and his slider started getting too high and thats when the Yankees took advantage. If i was cleveland i wouldnt worry, who is starting tonight? Wang? The shelled him, if they mix it up and put in Mussina, i will chuckle.

Not saying its impossible, just saying, I would be putting my money on Cleveland atm. Byrd, is 15-8 this year and has a well rested arm, while Wang who has been overrated IMO, is on short rest.

I agree with Greystone, anything is possible but Cleveland seems to be the better bet.

I disagree with your assessement of wang, he has 19 wins this season. He plays much better at home then he does away with a 1.59 ERA with men on base. and 3.49 otherwise. He's been a very good pitcher for them. "Byrd has struggled against New York in his career, going 1-4 with a 4.82 ERA. He allowed seven runs and seven hits in two innings Aug. 11 in his only start against the Yankees this season." <---quoted this part from yahoo.

I think if the Yanks take tonights game, then we have a big advantage going into Cleveland. I do agree with you, if they put Mussina in, even as a middle reliever, I'm going to cry. He just sucks now. Throws lollipops over the plate.

I guess, time will tell. I'm still thinking without the bugs, the Yanks would be up 2-1 and this wouldn't even be an issue. ;)

hehe shall i quote what yahoo said about A-Rod during the REGULAR season, and now he is what 2 for 60 lifetime in career (exaggeration of course but not too far off)

Trikki--- Fausto Carmona also got shelled against NY this year. But in the playoffs he made one mistake and gave up one run in 9 innings. Also Byrd is 15-8 with a 4.59 era this year i believe which is hardly any better then his 4.82 ERA against the yankees. The Indians offense shows up for him for some reason. Hopefully they outslug the Yankees tonight :)

Got a love how much money the Yankees pay out every year to its players...and yet they still loose. lol

How do you mean loose? loose like a goose? Or do you mean lose?

The fact is, the Yankees put the money that the team earns back into the team instead of lining their pockets like most owners. Steinbrener bought the New York Yankees for a one million dollar investment, today it's worth 1.3 billion dollars. Call it what you want, but the man invests in his team. He is the best owner in baseball......even if he is senile.

But, yeah. The team doesn't seem to have great continuity for the past 6 years. All the talent in the world, but can't get it done in the playoffs. So depressing. For me.
