The trouble with racism is that the term is over used and so are the other identifiers of it. It's my belief people have become desensitzed to it because of this over use. But it is my understanding that when someone is "racist" they believe that their race has traits that are superior over another race's traits, beliefs, practices or disctinctions.

So unless the people who made those things were of a different race and some how thinking their race was superior and they believed making charactures could show their superiority then they are racist.

And yes, I did have a wife whose family roots stemmed from the Carribean. The attitude from there is different, however.
They tend to look down on the descendants of African slaves that live here in the U.S. I'm not sure why, but I think it has to do with lost dignity.
Also, the "Brother" comment was meant to be tongue in cheek. Perhaps I should have said "Stock Broker Who Was Descended From African Slaves", but they tend not to "shoot people in the face".
I was just trying to say, and put across the point, that Racism is in the mind of the person. If you showed that picture to the average "Descendant of African Slaves" they would interpert it as racist.

Sixee, it seems the issue is that you think or posted the picture, which didn't have any racial lines, and brought race into it. Many, me included, jumped wondering why you did it. The pic doesn't say anything about being racist or discrimination against anyone. So I'm wondering if whenever you see anyone in a prison outfit if you think its racist? At the hospital, in a movie, TV, or at a Halloween Party.

As far as a Black History Month, pull out your high school history book, flip open to any page...count the white people and count the minorities, and unless you happened to flip open to Fredrick Douglas your are going to find a interesting fact. 90% of American History is all about white men mostly. World History, you can find all kinds of things baout white cultures and asian culturts and even most semetic cultures but the african culture sections are lacking.

Not to hijack the thread further, but I watched Angola vs. Portugal the other day. It was pretty boring, but the Spanish presentadores are just bad ass.

I had watched part of uh... crap... can't remember which game Saturday morning, but the English channel that was broadcasting the game was back to back with the Spanish station. You could almost hear the English (as in English speaking Americans not to be confused with actual English-type-Englanders) announcers yawning. The Spanish announcers made the game sound much more exciting.

I only understood every 12th word but I picked up pelota (ball) and punta (kick) as well as a few more that I dont remember. I can only imagine that getting punta'd in the pelotas would be bad.

Much as I hate to seem to be in any way construed as supporting the new nimrod of the boards, I have to point out that there is a misconception when making such a broad generalization regarding strippers.

One of my niece's best friends, who I know so-so, put herself through college through her Master's in Social Work and is now living in New York practicing, and her basic attitude was "If I got it, might as well make the most of it while it is there".

And another young lady, back in my days of beer and bikes, now has a portfolio that would make most any of us on this board weep. I knew several "dancers" fro the local club, and while most were straight up with "I have no skills, but I have a good body", there were a couple like the one mentioned who knew exactly what they were doing, stayed away from the drug scene and invested those tips, and are now pursuing the dreams they had with a bankroll of savings and stocks.

So, not all are either low self-esteem or sluts.
