Didn't you quit EQ?

What's gay are some peoples need to find any reason they can to put people down.

I used to play in bands throughout my school years. When I graduated from college, got my job, and moved away from most of the people I used to gig with I also lost most of my interest in the music scene. Now, 6 years later, friends of mine are playing again. Watching them rekindled that spark to play infront of a crowd again. Some more friends of mine picked up their instruments again also, and we have formed a band after all these years. I had forgotten how fun it was.

Get over it. Habits change, tastes change, you can lose interest in something and later that interest can be rekindled. There is nothing gay about that. What you once found fun might not excite you anymore... but later down the road that excitement can come back.

EQ is no different than any other hobby. It's something you spend your free time doing. You can lose interest in it, you can regain your love for it just like anything else in this world.

It's no different than catching your favorite TV show. Eventually you grow tired of watching the same old reruns over and over, no matter how much you loved the show originally. Then a new season comes (just like an expansion), and you find yourself catching the program all the time again. I used to watch the Simpsons everyday at 5pm on the Fox network, until I got sick of seeing the same episodes over and over and stopped watching. <sarcasm> I must be gay for starting to watch the again because the new episodes are starting to trickle through the time slot. </sarcasm>

There's nothing gay about giving up something that you no longer enjoy, and later picking it back up again because you get a new kindled enjoyment with it.

What's sad is continuing to play even though you DON'T enjoy it anymore, or not playing when you DO enjoy the game. Seems you think that people must be gay if they're not lumped into one of these two options... and that's just sad.

If you enjoy the game, by all means play it. If you despise the game, don't play it. It's really that simple to understand. NOT going with your feelings is what's gay.

I agree hobbies are cool, except EQ isn't a hobbie, its a lifestyle. You can't go on a diet for 1 week and expect to lose 20lbs and keep it off. The diet has to be a lifestyle change...In the same sense you can't call EQ a hobbie and play more than 20hrs a week and expect everything to be normal (assuming you quit because shit was fucked up)...thats not a hobbie, thats a lifestyle. Gotta face the facts at some point

I watched Simpsons every day after work for years. That program has been on Fox at that time for a long long time. It was a "lifestyle" in your words, I'll go with that. I see what you're saying there with hobby vs. lifestyle. I did it every weekday.

I got bored with it and stopped watching. Until new episodes started coming out that is. So I'm starting to catch it again now that there's something that interests me again being shown. I had seen the old episodes 15 times over each. It's not lame, it's not gay. These are the choices people make. They do what interests them, or they don't do what doesn't interest them.

I don't see why you say this is lame. It's a choice people make. You've made the same choices in your life countless times concerning things you don't enjoy vs. things you do enjoy being a part of your life also.

These people simply stop playing when they don't enjoy it, and start playing when they find joy in it. Knowing this is common sense. Ripping on them is just pointless.

Hobbie here.. I just took 6 months off. Came back and I'm having fun. No sob story to tell. When spring rolls around again ill leave again. This is a fun hobbie when there is too much snow to go 4-wheeling or work on my truck. Eq never wrecked my life. Why are you so interested in other peoples hobbies and playing habits? As I've learned from various people, quitting EQ and posting on this board are two very seperate things, that have nothing to do with each other. Meaning there are 4 states a person can be in...

1) plays and posts
2) plays but doesn't post
3) doesn't play but posts
4) doesn't do either

The American education system is flawed, but I'm off on a tangent. My point was those of you who claim to be educated can still be fucken idiots. High school diploma is worthless in terms of "smarts." One most also not forget that another can memorize and study hard, but when it comes to common sense or street smarts the direct opposite can occur. The way one acts is an evident sign, consider how many adults play EQ, consider how many arguements over some stupid, petty, childish shit goes down. I would like to make some statements that I personally believe to be true.

1. EQ doesn't wreak people's lifes. People wreak their own lives. EQ is just one of the things that you can overdose in order to wreak your life. Food and television works too, and so does a crapload of other things that are harmless in themselves. If you can't handle EQ without overdosing, then stay the fuck away from it. But don't blame the game for your own weakness.

2. People leave for different reasons and on different terms. Indeed it's a bit tragicomic when someone starts playing again after throwing a huge fit about how EQ wreaked his life and how everyone who play is a morlon loser. But it's actually a very small percentage of the quitters who quit like that. Most quit peacefully, either because they got bored withe the game or because their real life got the gaming dropped from the list of priorities. There's nothing bad about it if one of these guys come back.

3. EQ does not have to be binary on/off, either you play or you don't. I retired a LONG time ago. Yet i sometimes reactivate my account for a while, or borrow a friend's account. Because it's fun to bash away a bit and chat with old friends. I was a lifestyle EQ gamer, now I'm a extremely casual gamer. And I have seen several players who have been casual only, never making the game a part of their lifestyle. Sure, you don't see these people if you look only at the highend raiding scene. But they exist.

4. About cliques and having to be in the right gang for people to talk to you. That's bullshit. Sure, I have been in the "right" gang on this server and on my former. But I have played on a lot of other servers as well, without having any reputation, status or position whatsoever there. Newbies and "ubers" and the people between them was generally a nice crowd on the whole. Sure there was som celfcentered assholes, but that had nothing to do with if the guy was uber or not. Likewise, some people don't enjoy chatting with strangers when they are busy. This sin't about being evil, and it's not about being uber.
