hehe wow. Top right corner of my screen reads: You last visited: 10-10-2004 at 06:06 AM
I heard a rumour that EQ Live subs are actually going back up. Wondering if there's any truth to that and what the Server population is like now.
Currently running a top notch Vanguard guild, but it's questionable at this time if the game will actually stick around and be supported. If it craps out I wouldn't mind coming back to EQ since there's no other Hardcore MMO's out there.
So what's the deal with EQ now, who can give me an update. PS Hi Bin lol!

Total subscriptions are holding steady, from what I've heard. Our server (well, The Tribunal after the merger) may be in a slight decline, while some other servers--especially Maelin and Antonius Bayle--are getting more crowded. Overall things are still pretty healthy though.
If you've been gone since 2004, a lot has changed. You should read Halo's thread:

Aye, do so. It's a helpful thread (thanks to Palarran and co).
As to the pattern of whatever the populations are, it is -of course - far more high ended than it used to be. Most of the server congregate towards the 60+ levels.

Well, you can get 60 in about 2 days with a decent PL ...most people don't enjoy the old game, or were never around for it. ;)

Wondering if I would just be overly disapointed if I ended up going back to EQ. The memories were great, but maybe I should leave em in the past.

Leave it.
I've come back a couple of times and it's the same thing. If you have a max level character you'll spend time flagging and gearing up so you can raid. If you want to level, you'll get powerleveled through old content in a couple of days, which hardly does the memories and nostalgia justice. Then you race for AAs so you can raid.
If you are really looking to jump into an older game with the sole intention of doig end-game, I suppose you'd like EQ. If you actually want to experience something worth remembering I'd suggest trying one of the many other MMOs out there and soon to release. Going back to EQ for me just feels like banging your head against the wall. I've tried WoW, Vanguard, and now EQ2 since EQ1. I'm currently leveling on EQ2 with some old friends from Ayro and it's really fun. It's fresh, but it also captures some of the nostalgia when you traverse the commonlands for the first time in years, or make your way through freeport.

Ya I'm gonna stick to Vanguard. They finally made some annoucements on the direction of the game and what not as well as server merges. So I think it's really a turning point and the game will only get better.
Plus I finally just got my Graystone Longsword of Purification, so life is good!

I guess I am a glutton for punishment, but nothing else I have tried captures the fondness of EQ, I guess I am here to stay until they turn off the last server.
