Came across this while surfing the net at work.

Sounds interesting but there is alot to live up to.
The plan is for this film to be the first of a trilogy. Set before 2029, in the days before Skynet develops the T-800, "there are Hydrobots that patrol the water, Transports that move human prisoners around, Harvesters that collect human beings as lab rats for Skynet and Aerostats that survey all that is going on with the resistance the world over," wrote McG on his production blog.

Like most people I have always been a fan of the Terminator movies. I read your quote and it sounded promising. Unfortunately, after clicking on the link I saw this gem and realized the movie is destined to suck.
Christian Bale (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000288/)... John Connor (http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0000933/)
I would rank Christian Bale as one of the worst actors of the decade. He's like Kevin Costner from the 90s. He continuously gets big roles for no reason.

Batman Begins was great. 3:10 to Yuma was good.

I think Christian Bale is a great actor. Stoic in a cool way and in my opinion gives substance to his roles (Equilibrium, Batman Begins)
This seems like it would be good to me. I've been waiting for a movie that actually dealt with future resistance against Skynet! =)

Is James Cameron not involved with this one?

ha, I think he has a day job now.
And I may be wrong, but I thought Cameron lost the franchise in a divorce.

Cameron didn't "lose" the franchise, Kassar and associates always owned it, but he hasn't been involved with in since T2 (good call, since everything since then has sucked).
These movies could be interesting given they don't have to jump 50 robotic sharks every other scene in order to have anywhere to go with the story. As for Bale acting ... wtf, he's one of the better actors out there and has displayed great range and depth of character for someone so young. Empire of the Sun and The Machinist by themselves are good examples of his more serious work.

Bale is awesome. Try some more of his movies before writing him off.
This movie, however, without Cameron or Ahnold... What's the point?

Malse you didn't like T3? I thought it was pretty true to the story and the style, and I enjoyed it.

How can you not like Kristanna Loken? Her acting might be wooden, but the body is all flesh and blood!

I throughly enjoyed T3 and thought it went along pretty well with the story line. I'm hoping this one isn't teh suck.
I had reservations about T3 when it came out, but was quite surprised at it.

Ah-nold is getting old folks. Not to mention not all Terminators look the same. It's been hard enough trying to get them to explain the same looking T100 over the last three movies, maybe it's time for something new and fresh. :)

Let's see ...
We can retcon the entire second movie, then have half the principle cast not bother coming back, include a half-T1000 with inflatable tits, resolve nothing, cast an annoying punk as John Connor (hi, I'm a great military leader, excuses me while I whine my way through a movie ...?), add whole new and stupid capabilities to the Terminator (yes, my power call can cause a small nuclear explosion ... so why the fuck didn't I use this to kill people I was 5 feet away from in the two prior films?!) along with the apparently re-activated "regret and loyalty" module that will make a reprogrammed Arnold zap himself back into being the guhd gahy.
The film had a good car/truck chase scene and some robo-T&A. If Lokken was my woodie-du-jour, I'd just getting nekkid pictures of her off the internet, so that leaves 5 minutes of chase scene out of two hours of "you're kidding me."

Well she was supposed to be playing a robot, how wooden was Arnold's 'acting' through the years? Conan anyone?

All of her roles have been wooden tho', that I have seen anyway. Check her out in "Bloodrayne", the Ben Kingsley (ack, I lost at the tables again) vehicle which also featured Michael Madsen and Michelle Rodriguez in resume' padding roles. Of course, I could be wrong that Kingsley had a gambling debt that forced him to take this role; maybe he only lost a bet with the executive producer, or something.
Anyway, all that Loken brought to T3 was some eye candy, much as the rest of her roles. Funny, but that is the Terminator episode I recall the least, which speaks to the wonderful writing and acting in it.
