Ok so I got bored, really bored, and fired up EQ for the first time in like 3 or 4 years. Well I got everything all patched up and ready to go. Start the game and now I seem to have a graphics issue. There is a 4" by 4" grid of thin black lines going though the game screen. It's there all the time. Also, the text in game seems to be a bit goofed as well. Tough to explaing this one but some of the text pixles seem out of place like there is a shadow behind the words. Not sure if that made sense but it's the best explination I have. Anyone have any ideas?

Son had a similar issue with a bad graphics card.

Do you have directx 9c installed? If so, what graphics card do you run?

Yes on 9.0c and this is the only game that does it. I have a 6800 GT 256 Meg OC'd 15% or so...

i run eq with a gf 5950 NP. with all models and everything but spell effects. what are your other specs? Does your computer run other graphically intensive games fine, say morrowind? what are you currently playing other than attempting eq?

also, make sure to run a complete file check with the eq patcher and make sure you have your newest drivers for your video card.

Did the drivers today and I was up to date.. I play on a 3.0ghz p4 with a gig of cosair ram... this machine flies and plays Oblivion on high setting and never drops below 40fps(BEUTIFUL game BTW). I also play BF2 on high setting and never drop below 50Fps. I will run a complete file scan in EQ. maybe something did not take. the game is playable but VERY VERY annoying with the lines all over and the text issue.

with the system you have, you should have no issues at all unless you are missing a file. are you trying to use old ui settings or you trying to use default? did you delete all your old ini files when you removed eq, or you trying to use old ones of those?

If these are things you've tried, i'm not trying to speak down to ya. just thinking of anything it could be.

Also, what zones have you been in, that might help me narrow it down for you. Have you tried the progression servers?

Try posting a screenshot, so we know exactly what you're seeing?

One more question.... do you have a duel core processor? if so, there's a known issue with eq that they discuss on the soe boards. You might read up on that.

YEa I read that too. Seems to be for the truly dual-cores. I have a Hyper threading p4.

The dual core issue appears to be fixed with the new expansion, by the way (at least on Beta it seemed to be).

Yes it is and I was never was able to get it worked out... driver roll backs messing with ini's. Nothing worked. Which is fine I already pay for to MMOs. No need for a third.
