This board (edit - board, not thread!) is getting awfully stuffy, so I figured I'd throw this out there. Lately my head has been filled with an idea for a video game that just won't go away. When this happens for a film or a tv show, I'd go ahead and write a treatment and shoot a pilot. What do you do for a video game now? They are simply too complex for 2-3 people to make a sample of in a few days time, and I can't imagine its cost effective to make a pilot or demo with thousands of man hours into it. Any ideas? :)

Come up with all the details, write it all down and contact some gaming company's and ask if they have anyone who is interested in detailed plans for a possible next gen game :)
Honestly that is probably the most generic and least creative way of possibly getting your idea out, but It's all I could think of.
Edit- Your best bet is to contact the smaller companies that get recruited by big company's. For example, Don't call Vivendi direct.

I guess thats the tricky part too. The only gaming companies that I have contacts at are Firaxis and Bethesda, and neither of them do the right kinda genre.

Last time I went to Firaxis hoping to get a copy of Civ4 ... turned out we were doing promotional material for Cid Meyer's Trains :(

What you do, since you already have the tv props, is to convert the game concept into a tv pilot/script. Make it successfull in the media arena, and the game companies will come to you.
I call this the vin deisel method, though he absolutely fucked up what was cool about pitch black in chronicles of riddick. CoR was an ass movie with an awesome game that came out at the same time.
Naruto was such an obvious setup for a game, it's not even funny.
The advantage then is that you come from a position of power, having a successful license that the game company will bend over backwards to make the game play like you want it to play so that they can keep their license.
On the other hand, the cheap way to get into gaming is to make a board or card game if you want to get into the gaming angle first, with the theme second.
