Yeah we've been talking about it at work and as you can imagine with a shop full of ex military we're not at all forgiving.
Whoever did this deserves pain ;(

Dahmer didn't get the death penalty either tho he found prison justice just , if not more so, harsh.

Ummm, women separated from their kids are not too lenient with other women who are convicted of harming their kids.

Wisconsin doesn't have the death penalty so ole Jeffery never had to worry about that. The guy who killed Dahmer also took out another equally discusting scum bag...the man who stabbed his wife in the parking lot of a local restraunt a 100 times and then said a gang banger did it.

Bro i had compassion the first 50 times ( no exaggeration) i saw the grandparents on TV. at this point, every angle has been talked about and and every theory. I hoped CAylee was alive but seriously after a month of hearing about it, the cahnces were very very low.
the talk radios talk about it daily...its hard to "care" when its been shoved down your throat for 4 months.
All Floridians know Casey is guilty....50/50 on the grandparents...

I don't know if its like this everywhere(I'm betting it is) but here in tampa bay always a story running about some horrible crime in the newspaper and on all the news channels. And god knows how many don't get the sensationalist treatment. It gets boring. It's the main reason I stopped watching the local news. 17 minutes of murder, robbery, molestation and rape with 2 minutes of sports and weather and a 30 second happy story at the end.
I dunno who Caylee Anthony is, and honestly I don't care.

So honestly, where is the thread about every other missing kid? There is over 350,000 missing kids a year, thats a lot of pictures to post.
This one was just oversensationalized (is that a word) by the media due to the unusual behavior of the mother and other family members.
It stopped being about the girl a week after she was reported missing and more about the mother and movie rites and book deals.

May those of you that don't care never breed. We don't need anymore uncaring parents or parents that lack empathy in this world.
Sure you may not care about the media coverage, but to not at least have some empathy for a child that didn't deserve this shows what kind of person you really are.

There is a huge difference between a child being missing and/or abducted by a sex offender or any other situation you can come up with, and what has happened in this instance here. In those other examples, there is typically NOTHING that could be done to keep that child safe. My heart goes out to those families who have lost not only children in this manner, but other loved ones as well (sons, fathers, brothers, sisters, daughters and mothers lost in wars etc). However THAT is not the case here. What you have here is a selfishly immature and evil woman who happened to become a mother, and do the most heinous act I could imagine a parent doing to their child.
There are reports now that they have found traces of duct tape over the skull where the mouth would be, so that rules out any sort of accidental death that could have taken place. That pretty much confirms what people following this case have feared the entire time - that this girls life was taken because her mother just didn't want to be a mother any more... she wanted to act like she was 18 again and go out and party like a sorrority girl on a GHB and meth binge.
I may not have been as impacted by this had the mother been some crazy cracked out bitch claiming to hear voices, and then drove her car into a lake with her babies strapped in the back seat because the voices told her to do so... but knowing that this little girl was alive and well, and had a perfectly healthy mother whom researched chloroform and how to break necks and what different types of shovels were... had duct tape placed on her mouth while she obviously was still alive - im not going to go any futher, this just makes me sick.
I don't pretend to be self-righteous or holier than thou by any means, so you can fling your shit at someone who is.
May those of you that don't care never breed. We don't need anymore uncaring parents or parents that lack empathy in this world.
Sure you may not care about the media coverage, but to not at least have some empathy for a child that didn't deserve this shows what kind of person you really are.

YOU GUYS ARE JUST SO CARING!!!
Here's the reason I don't care about this shit:
People die every single day. Hundreds. Thousands. By the time I finish writing this post, prob another thousand will drop dead.
IT SUCKS. I'm a bleeding heart liberal, remember? I don't want anyone to die. I want to take your hard earned money and give it to these people so they can live good lives. Aid to Africa, etc etc.
When I read this story I thought to myself "What a piece of shit. I hope the kid is okay. If the mom did it, I hope she gets what is coming."
What I don't do, however, is religiously follow the select one or two stories the media decides is worth our time.
And we all know how they decide: Is there an attractive woman involved?
So the the Caylee Anthonys (Or her mom in this case), the Elizabeth Smarts, and the Natalee Holloways (Or any of the missing/murdered college coeds):
I am sorry that these horrible things happened to you. I am sure you are looking down from Heaven, estatic at the media circus that is now surrounding your life (or death, as it may be) and your family. Thank God you have a bunch of strangers who care, and will put others down for not caring enough. I can only hope the same happens to me.

I can definitely identify and sympathize with that - and we could spin this conversation into a huge discussion about how the government and media outlets control the flow of information, or false-information if you will.
One example: I basically opened my eyes politically for the first time in my life this year when I saw the injustice done to Ron Pauls campain when Fox wouldn't even give him 2 minutes of air time. Im 30 years old and have just now started taking a political interest in the way our country is run, when previously I could have cared less - I was just "along for the ride".

Exactly.
To post her picture and throw it in Grey's face in an attempt to somehow prove that he is an uncaring, unsympathetic person is beyond unfair. My post was directed at that specifically.
Seriously, this child is not unique in her suffering. Am I empathetic? Absolutely, but I am also not innocent enough to think that this, and stories far worse, happen all over the world far more frequently than I think anyone would want to imagine. To single this girl out and say you must have empathy for HER and not the other children is just as big a crime as calling people out on this board and hoping they never breed because they are so uncaring and callous. Waaaaay overblown reaction.

Please don't think i don't care. I do, i am GLAD they found the body so the grandparents (well George because the grandmother i think is guilty as hell and is involved somehow) can get closure on this. I think Padilla prick is a douche bag for trying to get publicity on the whole thing. Not to sound like its a brag but i am probably more versed on this case than anyone who doesn't live in Florida
My ONLY point was that I am glad its over. Im sick of hearing about it. Tv, RAdio, Newspaper, watercooler talk..its everywhere cause people would see the search parties go by their house. They would talk about going to join the protest at the grandparents house.
As much if you lived in Columbine all those years ago, you probably got more media exposure than the rest of the country and just wanted it over. Or NYC after 9/11 there is a point you want to move on past tragedy not keep rehashing it.

 You were right when you said you aren't pretending to be self-righteous. You're the real thing.
The amount of wildly false assumptions that have been taken from one line of my post is amazing.
Yes, what happened is fucking terrible beyond words, it's good there might be a bit of closure, and if I ever met the person who did it I doubt I'd be able to control myself. But this girl is just another picture and name in a never-ending line of them. If I got upset over every one of these stories I'd become suicidal in a few months. I worry about the things I can do something about.
Sorry, but to make me feel like a bad person you'll have to do a lot more then say that this specific case is totally worth more of my energy and time than "a child being missing and/or abducted by a sex offender or any other situation you can come up with". I've got quite a few "situations" I could tell you that I've heard from my sister, whom works at a children's hospital.
But they don't make the news because a 7 year old kid slowly dying of bone cancer while his parents aren't allowed to be in the same room as him without wearing a full quarantine suit isn't sexy enough.

Its the fucked up voyeuristic society we live in.
The news channels are making fucking bank off this little girls murder. We the public are victims of our own nature in some respect, its like a horrible, horrible traffic accident, we cant help but look and yet are repulsed at the same time.
I think thats what people were raging against.
Its so bone deep degenerate that its tough to really think about the whole goddamn situation and not be sickened to the core. They sell it, we buy it.
Its not that I, or Immo, or DiscW or anyone for that matter, doesnt care about this poor little girl, but I just wish to hell that it wasnt seen as an opportunity to exploit her so we can be convinced to buy some fucking toothpaste.
Think about that. Everytime they show that little girls picture and bumper it with commericals they are basically prostituting her.
I just wish we could all let her little soul rest in peace.

While the sensationalist reporting may wear one down after a while, it does serve to highlight the fact that way too many children are victimized in this and other countries. Since it isn't possible to cover them all, singling out a representative case for heavy reporting isn't all that unreasonable. It brings the problem to the nation's attention and maybe some day a way to protect these poor kids before they are killed can be devised. Wishful thinking I know, but something should be done.
Malse
12-15-2008, 02:21 PM
but something should be done.
This is something, we must do it!
What must be done? What possible law are you going to enact or service will you create that investigates every family in the nation for the tiny percentage of them that will one day kill or seriously abuse their children? People already constantly cry foul about the mostly well-meaning Child Protective Services in most states that have been hammering at this for decades with a modicum of success.
Sixee
12-15-2008, 03:19 PM
Also note that many of these children that are "abducted" are generally with one of thier parents. It's a tactic some parents use to get the law on thier side when there are no orders governing who has custody of the children.
They report the child as "abducted", then the law gets involved.
http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/PageServlet?LanguageCountry=en_US&PageId=2810#1
The U.S. Department of Justice reports
797,500 children (younger than 18) were reported missing in a one-year period of time studied resulting in an average of 2,185 children being reported missing each day.
203,900 children were the victims of family abductions.
58,200 children were the victims of non-family abductions.
115 children were the victims of “stereotypical” kidnapping. (These crimes involve someone the child does not know or someone of slight acquaintance, who holds the child overnight, transports the child 50 miles or more, kills the child, demands ransom, or intends to keep the child permanently.)
