She's kind of hot. But yea put a man in her spot and they would hang him up for 30+ years and deffinately would have gone to trial no matter what. Double standards.

"I pray with all my heart that the young man and his family will be able to move on with their lives," she said. "Again, I offer my deepest apologies."
Poor kid, yeah. :p

I think somehow his parents got involved.
And you know how badly parents can screw up a good thing.

I did a report on this for WE's (Women's Entertainment) Secret Lives Of Women believe it or not, where we interviewed not just her but like 20 of these women (mostly ex-teachers) who all dated and most got pregnant or married the kid they were involved with. We just got booked to interview the judge in that article in the coming weeks.
Its so surreal. It wasn't about sex for these women, it was about love. Thats what really sets these kinda cases apart from male on female molestation. All of these women didn't just sleep with the dudes and run, some would cook them dinner and drive them to soccer practice. They enjoyed the duality of the mother / lover role. Its really strange. And for every 1 "hot" Lafave case, there's 10 "ugly" women who've commited the same act it seems.
What is stranger is you figure, like Fandros said ... most guys think this is a good thing. They won't report it as much as girls do. It could possibly happen just as often as the other way around, you just don't hear about it as much. Fact is though, most of the stories you hear of a man who this happened to him ... happen after this man has grown up, is molesting little boys, was caught and is now in therapy. The mental effects are probably pretty staggering. Its abuse, plain and simply, but because of the popular reaction of "Yeah, I'm sure the kid was traumatized..." nothing is done about it until 30 years later they start molesting children themselves.

So what you are saying is, Guys don't love the children they molest, but women do?
That sounds kind of sexist.
I think if you could stand to be in the room with a guy that did that sort of thing, and supress the urge to kill him, you'd find out they felt they were in love with the kids they did things to as well.
What it boils down to is that children are not ready to deal with the emotional side of what happens to them when they are molested, male or female.
This woman should be prosecuted as if she were a man that committed the crime.
Equal punishment for equal crime.

That sounds kind of sexist.
reminds me of a funny quote I saw the other day:
Women need a reason to have sex......men just need a place. ;)

Hmmm interesting claim that since a young man has sex with a much older woman, granted one was 14, that there's a history of men like him turning into pedophiles.
Never heard that one before, I highly doubt the claim since not too long ago young men were marrying all women of various ages.
Perhaps because she was an authority figure? Again never heard that before, men are built differently and it's unlikely there was any lasting damage, unless force was used.....

Actually, most child-molesters who were themselves abused as children were same-sex abuse victims. And, opposite sex abuse before puberty seems to be rare, as not that many cases have been reported to allow for any in depth studies, as compared to female abuse victims. It seems most abuse of boys by women occurs after puberty is reached, when the boy is already starting to become sexually aware. And, because of the "atta boy" response by so many, the level of trauma is not even close to what the female victims endure.
As far as the child molester "loving" his victim, some male pedophiles may experience a sense of adoration for their victim initially, but that gives way to the sexual-aggression and control issues that are at the heart of the abusers' problems.
I worked for 4 1/2 years at the state prison prior to my current job carrying mail, and was fortunate to be able to be included into a consortium of folks from the twin cities area who came from a wide variety of approaches to working with victims, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, half-way house counselors, social workers, and even a couple of people from the "Illusion" theatre company. I was taken under the wing sort of by two of them, and given much reading to do to stay current with trends in working with sex abusers and sex abuse victims. Unless there have been major breakthroughs that were never reported in the news, they are still untreatable. They will either decide to stop, or they will continue.
I became quite cynical during this 4 1/2 year period, and I am sure some of that lingers still. My last intake interview was with an inmate that had been incarcerated twice in the previous 8 years for sexual assault, and paroled each time. His new case involved a 14 year old that he kidnapped off the street, held for a day and a half, did a lot of things to that I won't share for decency's sake, and was only caught because she jumped out of the van in moving traffic. He wanted me to help him with his appeal, because the judge had deviated from the sentencing structure and doubled his sentence. I was through at that point, and was looking for a new job within the month.
There are major differences between the female and male sex offenders, and they mainly have to do with the sexual stereotypes of the caretaking female and the aggressive male. It is unfortunate that she is getting a free pass. Without unpleasant consequences, behavior is more likely to be repeated.

Thats making a pretty broad assumption too, cause you know I'm sure that every person who was molested goes on to do the same...
And as a second thought, I would have sold my soul to sleep with my Sophomore english teacher.
Was I capable of a meaningful relationship at 14, no not really, but could I figure out which woman I wanted to nail? Yeah. (Looking back, at 14 it would have been easier to figure out which ones I didn't would take less time)
