I've had the same Everquest directory since fall of 1999 when I began playing. I recently tried to begin playing again, but realized that too much has changed. Today I erased my Everquest directory, and broke all of my disks.
A situation happened in game that made me very angry, it's not something I plan to talk about to anyone. I really don't want to make anybody upset, or bring any drama upon my friends. I've just decided that I am moving on, and that it's not worth the investment of my time any longer.
Yensid, if you are reading this, I am handing all of my characters and their possessions over to you permanently. Feel free to update the account passwords, I will not be playing any more at all, and I don't care to know what the passwords are. I know that you will take good care of them, and I am very happy to know that you have them. :)
I'll still be lurking the boards, so if anybody needs anything just leave a post.

9 outta 10 dentists agree. When you quit out of anger you return to play once your ire fades.

Breaking the discs is useless. Sony has an ftp site.

Brad, you knucklehead, this isn't the lie thread. And yeah, quitting from irritation just leaves the door open for the urge to take you again. Hope you change your mind, quitting that way is not how you want to leave something you invested that much time and passion in.

I really appreciate the kind words and support, and thanks for telling me about the FTP site ;) . I think I have quit Everquest about ten times now, each time for a different reason. I'm going to be taking a break for a long time, but you never know what the future holds.

EverQuest Patcher Help
Important Note: If you are unable to download files with the new patcher, download this file (http://eqlive.station.sony.com/support/tech_support/EverQuest.zip) to your EverQuest directory (default location is C:/Program Files/EverQuest/) and run it. You must have Internet Explorer installed on your system for the EverQuest patcher to work properly.
One thing vitally important about the new EverQuest Patcher is its functionality. Not only do you have the ability to customize the patcher for your personal preferences, this patcher takes advantage of differential patching technology. Say for instance that we created an addendum to a certain file. Let's use EverQuest.exe as an example. In the past, we would have downloaded to you a brand new EverQuest.exe file. Now, with differential patching, we are only downloading the appended part of the EverQuest.exe file thus shortening the download process.

I quit 14 months ago and I never felt better. I have used the 30 free account a couple times since then (7 day now?). Getting a noob to level 10 with all the quest crap is fun but the entertainment value drops like a rock after that. I still play my diablo, quake and baldur's gate though. Go outside, work in the yard, ride a motorcycle. EQ is a drag really, I don't miss it a bit.
