Shit..well this was supposed to be a poll and I can't delete this and start over. Oh well. My bad. Anyway, what do you think is the best Zombie movie(s) of all time?

Here are the choices again:

Night of the Living Dead ( old black and white version)
Return of the Living Dead ( Brains!)
Resident Evil series (Mila. 'nuff said)
original Dawn of the Dead (When Hell is full, the dead will walk the earth)
Evil Dead series (this is my BOOMSTICK!)

Toss up.

Night of the Living Dead was without a doubt one (if not THE) genre defining film of survival horror. Creeped out people for generations and generations.

Resident Evil, a more contemporary "work"...

After playing that game, I would literally back up after I opened ANY door for almost a month. I was scared shitless of being in the dark after playing that game. The very first scene where Jill walks into the room and sees the zombie feasting on...Kenneth, I think it was? was probably one of the most frightening ever in a videogame, next to the "dogs crashing through the goddamn windows and almost giving you a fucking heartattack" hallway.

Bleh.

My opinion.

At first I thought you meant Resident Evil the movie. You scared me there.

As for recent works... Shaun of the Dead!

Night of the Living Dead was without a doubt one (if not THE) genre defining film of survival horror. Creeped out people for generations and generations.I'm actually a fan of the 1990 version. The 1990 version has Patricia Tallman in the female lead. Patricia Tallman then went on to be the "Possessed Witch" in Army of Darkness. [She's spent the rest of her career doing B-movies and stunt-work in, of all places, sci-fi and horror films.]

Ok, and let me be clear. The 1968 version is a TRUE CLASSIC, and stands head and shoulders above the 1990 version; but I liked the 1990 version anyway.

Finally, it's time for a couple +1 Information mods..

You can download the original Night of the Living Dead in complete ready-to-make-DVD format for free, online, right now - legally.

If 4.1 gigs of MPEG2 (DVD) isn't your cup of tea, it's available in MPEG4 and VCD (MPEG1).

I like Evil Dead a lot. Also, Dead Alive at least deserves mention; that's a funny-ass zombie movie. If you want to see Peter Jackson's real genius, check that one out.

George Romero gets all the credit here- he might not have created the genre, but he certainly comes damn close.

[after Ash chops up Evil Ash with a chainsaw and throws him into a hole]
Evil Ash : You'll never retrieve the Necronomicon! You'll die before ya get it!
Ash : Hey! What's that you got on your face?
Evil Ash : Huh?
[Ash throws dirt on Evil Ash's face]

one of the best quotes ever

I don't know if Wiggo knows this, but his name has a small place in history. An historian from the court of Charlemagne, called Einhard, related the story of a girl possessed by a demon in 830 AD. Speaking to an exorcist in Latin through this girl's mouth, the demon called itself Wiggo. The exorcist succeeded in casting out the demon and, evidently, punished it by imprisoning the foul creature in EverQuest.
