A movie worth watching this summer? No way!
I'll have to go see it, thanks.

Really? I thought it was rather...meh. I liked the time dilation and the special effects were very excellent. But it was predictable. Still though, I didnt mind paying full price to see it, I was entertained.

While I have never been much of a fan of DiCaprio, my growing appreciation of Ellen Page will offset and make this a movie I will likely enjoy for the story and effects.
She has described her role in this movie as someone who is just learning about the science of tapping into dreams which allows the audience to learn about it at the same time.
(If you want to see Ms Page in something that will definitely evoke some strong emotion, see "An American Crime" which is based on a true story.)

giena, what I think I enjoyed the most about it was how thought provoking it was. It wasn't a "sit down, shut off your brain and be entertained" movie. Perhaps I am holding it in a brighter light because of the fact that after the movie my friends and I went out for drinks and spent a couple hours discussing the concepts of everything in the movie and the questions about why Nolan decided to do things certain ways. I love a movie that can do that.
It was a tad predictable, I suppose, but that didn't take anything away from it for me.
Also, one thing I noted while watching it was how good a job Nolan had done setting up and explaining enough that even with the complex ideas that were introduced, you don't get lost if you're paying attention.

Akom, okay, I'll absolutely agree with your statements about the thought provoking discussions it generated. My wife and I were talking about the movvie for a couple hours after having seen it and with having two kids to otherwise divert us, thats saying something.
I just didnt walk away with that "blown away" feeling you know? It does sneak up on you, kind of like tequila.

It's a movie you want everyone else to see so you can talk about it with them.

I was pleasantly surprised that it mostly lived up to the hype.

I enjoyed the movie quite a lot, and while the events themselves weren't particularly surprising (an ambiguous ending in a Nolan-penned movie about dreams? I'm shocked!) the execution was quite good, and the score stayed in my head all day. JGL's fight scene in the hotel hallway was especially memorable.
If you like mind-bending "what really happened here" films, the creator of Primer has, I hear, uploaded it to Google video for free viewing. It's an excellent take on time travel (made for only $7000).

I can't find Primer on Google Video. I get "We're sorry, but this video may not be available" on the video page referred to by most pages announcing Primer had been uploaded.

Unfortunate. I Netflix'd it so hadn't bothered looking it up on Google vid (though if I want to get a handle on that movie I'll have to watch it at least a couple more times).

Yeah... I've heard that Primer is excellent. Yet to check it out though.

Just saw this finally. I enjoyed it, but there wasn't really a "I need to see this again so I can see what I missed the first time" kind of feeling. It was fun, the acting really carried it for me.

Didn't actually manage to catch this way back when it was first released; but just came back from it tonight. Thought it was easily the best movie I've seen in a couple of years. A good balance between the characters, the storyline, and a very touching greek-tragedy kind of centre. Nolan is very hot shit right now - and too right.
I've developed a real soft-spot for Ken Watanabe and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as actors.
