I just bumped into this musical artist last night by accident (messing around on the internet).

I don't usually like this kind of music, but check out one song The Way I AM.

Several others are pretty good too.

Since I have never heard of her I figure no one else has LOL!

Actually, I have developed a real liking for that bit of pop....it is catchy. I am not too enthused about any of her stuff other than the one mentioned though.

Sara Bareilles is the female singer/songwriter that has really grabbed my attention lately. Her cd "Little Voice" is full of good music. The last time a new female artist got my attention like this was Norah Jones, and I won a nice bit of cash predicting her grammy awards.

Norah Jones is a great arranger as well as singer/songwriter (just check out her take on "Cold Cold Heart" by Hank Williams from her debut cd), and so I like many of her covers almost more than her original stuff. Sara B is a great performer who does not do arrangements but can put some great piano work together with her songs. Her song "Love Song" is used (with her singing) in a recent commercial.

I have heard Love Song before and she is a great vocalist. Right now IMO Ingrid has my attention. I am going to you tube and see what else Norah Jones has.

Ingrid is going to have a future in music, I have no doubt. I thought her first tour being done using her mother's minivan was the kind of experience that might yield some more good songwriting, so we'll see what her next cd sounds like. She does have talent.

Another note on Norah Jones: one of my favorite collections of her singing is a cd by The Peter Malick Group titled "New York City", where she was the vocalist. It is mostly blues oriented and was done before she gained popularity on her own, but not released until later. She also has a cd out that is more country flavored, with some of her regular band and other friends calling themselves "The Little Willies"; some nice covers there in the country-folk style.

Ingrid, Norah and Sara are all talents that should be around for quite some time providing some nice alternatives to keep music fun.

Ingrid is amazing. I can't stop listening to her CD since I got it about 6 weeks back. She's coming to Chapel Hill next week on the Hotel Cafe tour with Josh Radin and the Cary brothers. I can't wait!
