Verbatim quotes from when Clinton was committing troops to Bosnia:

"You can support the troops but not the president."
---Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years."
---Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?"
---Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99

"[The] President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy."
---Sen Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"American foreign policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign policy."
---Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain the y have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy."
---Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of George W Bush

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . . I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area."
---Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today"
-Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is."
-Governor George W Bush (R-TX)

Hmm. Discuss? Or Bury heads in the sand with a TV tuned to Fox News to make the bad man stop the crazy talk.

Oh, I'll discuss it.

It's the same type of partisian shit that spews out of either side whenever the Foe is in power.

It's what I hate about our politics...

And they're still there.

When people realize that when you occupy acountry, even on a small level, it's gonna be a fucking while until we pull out comepletely.

Though, it's definitely down in numbers, same with Kosovo.

One of the few things I wish Bush had never done was that fucking "Mission Accomplished" bullshit, yeah we took baghdad, but we were far from winning the war. Troops will be there for a long ass time, though probably not In the large quantaties they are now, we will have a prescence there for decades.

I have always beleived Party's is the downfall of our system of government. People dont vote the issues they vote their party. Its hard to find a person who is 100 left or 100% right.

Wish people would just educate themselves more.

That would be why I'm a happy little independent. Also cuts down on the crap mail during election season.

Here's (http://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/25/politics/25prexy.html?pagewanted=print) a fun one from yesterday:
Despite more violence on Wednesday in Iraq, Mr. Bush said, "What's important is that the Iraqis are resolving these issues through debate and discussion, not at the barrel of a gun."

'Despite more violence on Wednesday in Iraq, Mr. Bush said, "What's important is that the Iraqis are resolving these issues through debate and discussion, not at the barrel of a gun."

- Lol? What he meant was that one half was trying to debate it, while the other half were blowing heads off with guns.
Going in to Bosnia was good, it was pretty truthful, purposeful, and reliable. Iraq was one cock-up from the word Go. And ever since the word has been Stay.

"It appears that the money has been moved in the president's budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq, and I suppose that's the price we pay. Nobody locally is happy that the levees can't be finished, and we are doing everything we can to make the case that this is a security issue for us."

Emergency Management Chief Walter Maestri of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. June 8, 2004.

Some of these would make great bumper stickers. L2 you'd be rich.

Why it took the country 2 years to realize this man is a total boob is beyond me. I think the word back during the election was ignorance.

51% infavorable is one of the nicer polls I've seen.

Oh man, politicians being hypocritical. Imagine that.

Of course we all know it's only on the right side of the aisle. Duh.

It was pretty much the same during the eight years Clinton was in office, with the fingers being pointed the other way.

Funny thing is that the ones that used to bitch and moan about stuff when Clinton was President are the same ones that complain now about anti-Bush folks doing the bitching and moaning.

It is like the host on KQRS radio in Minneapolis, who bitched every chance he could about Wellstone and Clinton (and would probably blame the Tsunami on them if he could) now is always bitching about folks complaining about Bush, and "When will people get over it?", hehehe.

While the person in the White House will change, the stuff we see on the boards, in the newspapers, on Comedy Central, that we hear on talk radio will all remain pretty much the same, with just the focal point having changed.

I disagree in one respect. The stuff we hear and see will further spiral into mean-spiritedness and hate-mongering, as civility between the primarily represented viewpoints continues to deteriorate.
