Sadly, a lot of that is true (the dealing with idiot users part).

I can't wait to see a video of someone calling tech support though. Only this time, it's a network admin calling to replace a defective part, and getting an outsourced to India tech support.......

August of 2000 i started working for Earthlink Inc tech support. During our training class we watched that video a couple times.

I worked in the support field for over 2 years and that rings SOOOO true.

Hey aaz, how did you know about all the outsourcing to india ?? Our entire office in pasadena got laid off because they decided to outsource all of support to india, indonisia and the phillipines :/

The IT salad days are over.

The same things happened with manufacturing and some other job sectors in the past century. Everyone would agree that you can only export so much work before you start damaging the economy, but the twist to this is that the people who make the descisions to move the labor to cheaper countries make a good part of their money in dividends- so they'll make the cash no matter where the business is located.

I'm a Network Administrator.
The "Company" policy is to only buy Dells.

So, when I have to call them to get a part replaced, good lord what a ration of crap. First off, I have to ask them to repeat themselves after damn near every other word (yes it is that bad). Second off, I already know what the bloody problem is. No, I don't need to go through their stupid ABC troubleshooting diagram...........

Worked on the Gateway tech support line for 2 years ... I actually saw people answer the phone then TRANSFER those people to the same line
