I downloaded and installed the update to my 3G successfully, but now iTunes keeps saying network connection fail and won't completely finish the process.

Downloading it now! I just wish they would allow the iphone to sync to more than 1 pc :( sucks to have to drive home during lunch just to sync phone cause i set it up to home pc not my laptop lol.

Gotta love Apple and their never-failing release issues... now I am completely phone-less.

Finally was able to activate. Some nice changes from what I can see, but my data speed is extremely slow if not non-functional.

If you're getting the activation server unavailable error, unplug your network connection while the update is expanding... it will forgo looking for the activation server and just update your phone. Then you have to re-connect to the internet so that iTunes can connect to the Apple store and activate. Worked for me, anyway.
