As promised (http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/12/iphone-os-3-0-is-coming-march-17th/), Apple just debuted its upcoming iPhone OS 3.0. Much of the news seemed developer-centric, but there are certainly plenty of consumer implications down the road, along with long-awaited functions like copy and paste, A2DP, MMS and universal Spotlight search. Improvements include:

Yummy.

Here's another link that is a little more detailed.

An external keyboard and mouse for a phone? I thought the whole concept was to be small and portable?

bingo!
although landscape chat will be nice still having the kb take up most of the screen while trying to type commands kinda sucks.

Sure, but having the capability is far better than not having it. I for one would use it!

Im still waiting for a developer to unlock full bluetooth functionality on the damn thing. I know they want to lockdown file-sharing, but damn I wanna be able to transfer pics etc! blah.

On a somewhat related note: does anyone have 2 apple devices and use iTunes to synch them? For example I have an iPod ive had for quite a while, and recently got my iPhone. My iTunes wont copy my tracks over because obviously iTunes is only going to synch one device. How do you get around this? I could use ephpod to manipulate my iPod and then use iTunes specifically for my phone.

I was thinking of trying to do it on my wifes profile and see if iTunes can/will differentiate between 2 profiles. *shrug*

Thoughts?

I've heard that a jailbroken iphone can do bluetooth but I'm not sure how true it is. And if you jailbreak you're foobared for support unless you restore to factory defaults? On the other topic I have no idea :(

Yeah it does - but there are developers working on apps right now to do it, they just haven't finished yet. I think one of them is called ibluetooth but its been a couple weeks since I looked at it, so I could be mistaken.

All the iPhone people with us in Vegas this past week kept missing the party, because they couldn't keep up with more than one app at once. Anyone with an iPhone basically had to find someone with a Blackberry or Win Mobile phone to follow around if they wanted to keep up with where the next place was.

Who the hell goes to Vegas to play cell phone scavenger hunt? When you go to Vegas next time put the cell phone in your pocket and enjoy the city :)

Yes, because being anti-social and wandering randomly around that armpit would be much more fun than going where the party's at. Or, not.
