Personally it sounds like a bluff to me, but the fact they are spouting to have developed such weapons has many worried.

An underwater missile that travels 328 ft per second with a large enough warhead to crack a sub?

Surface to surface missile with multiple warheads?

Both capable of stealth and radar evasion?

Hmmmmm should no longer be a question of what to do but when...

That underwater missle thingie has to be pointed at something and I seriously doubt they'll ever get anywhere near one of our naval vessels (above or below the surface.)

If they have such technology as the stealth surface to surface missles, Russia and/or China have been selling them tech. /grrr

Well those 2 countries have proven that they will sell whatever, to whomever, as long as the price is right.

Some information (http://www.defensetech.org/archives/002291.html) on the torpedo part of the claim. Mention is made of Iran's occasional exaggeration of their capabilities. Also notable was:
Meanwhile, ACE (http://airbornecombatengineer.typepad.com/airborne_combat_engineer/) digs through Ed Pope's site (http://www.edmondpope.com/tech.php), and finds that "a concerted effort to develop an underwater supercavitating vehicle was begun here in the US and the Russians obtained key documents from us and reportedly bought at least one patent from a company in the US."

I'd be more worried about why they feel the need to make claims like this. If it's true, and they're parading their armies, then they really are ready to be defensive and it serves nicely as a warning. If it isn't true, then they're possibly looking to pick a fight.

Either way, it's not good.

Do they really have it? Who knows. Same thing goes for them "sunburn" missles we hear about occasionaly. It's probably sabre rattling. Hell we just announced a 700 Tonne conventional warhead test for bunkers at the Nellis Test range for June. This makes me miss the cold war. Good times are ahead. Too bad Ronnie "ray gun" won't be here to enjoy it.

Are you kidding? He was the "great communicator", and I am sure he can talk someone into letting him have a box seat for the events.
