(CNN) — Some are calling it a Freudian slip. Everyone’s calling it a big mistake. Hundreds of absentee ballots sent to voters in New York State’s Rensselaer County, near Albany, were printed with Barack Obama’s last name spelled as “Osama," the Albany Times Union reports (http://timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=728326).


County elections officials tell the newspaper that it was a typo that made it by three rounds of proof-readers. They also said the error affected just a few hundred voters, and that they will re-send corrected ballots on request.

Heh...I went to SUNY Cobleskill in Schoharie county, I also left for Parris Island from Albany...even though I was from the NYC area. I got tp PI and they branded me a hay seed:(

Says something about the proof readers and election officials. Fire whoever typed that in the first place.

Heh. I would have thought that place would have been better than that but who knows. I grew up in Saratoga Springs. My pop was a professor at RPI in the aerospace dept. Not much happens in Smalbany but typically there was usually time for people to think things through and do it right.

In all likelyhood, someone probably had added Osama to their word dictionary and corrective text did the rest.

why would the supervisor of elections and/or his secretary have Osama on Autocorrect??
