OMFG

Seriously people?!

This makes me weep for the human race as a whole; and no the 'Right Wing" is not alone in having it's fair share of idiots.

This makes me want to drive to that woman's house and punch her right in the cunt. And prevent her from ever breeding again. She is so stupid it hurts me to even think about it. As is anyone who is afraid of "indoctrination" of their precious little snowflakes.

Don't get me wrong, I think Obama is fucking everything up and really throwing off those prophecies of him being the new messiah.

BUT FOR FUCK'S SAKE PEOPLE

He's going to tell them to stay in school, work hard and get good grades

OH FUCKING NO!

Sorry little bit of rage at idiocy in general. I think I'm going to watch it just on principal.

Apparently the repulican party is anti education, anti individual responsibility, and they denounce the speeches that Bush senior and Regean gave to address public education. Who knew?

I know that sometimes, you get the sense from TV that you can be rich and successful without any hard work -- that your ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star, when chances are, you're not going to be any of those things.

But the truth is, being successful is hard. You won't love every subject you study. You won't click with every teacher. Not every homework assignment will seem completely relevant to your life right this minute. And you won't necessarily succeed at everything the first time you try.
That's OK. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who've had the most failures. JK Rowling's first Harry Potter book was rejected twelve times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, and he lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, "I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

Clearly this man needs to take a page from FDR and welcome the hate of his enemies, because if you're against this, I submit you need to get in line for Elemak's patented babymaker punches post haste.

Asked if the Collier school district would have made the same ruling about webcast "logistics" if Obama's Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, had proposed making a similar speech to U.S. students, a spokesman for Thompson told TIME, "exactly." But Dean calls it "a moot question" because "I don't think President Bush would have ever done it. He understood that this sort of thing starts in the home." But when reminded that Bush's father, President George H.W. Bush, broadcast a similar speech to the nation's pupils, Dean says, "That was different. It was, if I remember, largely a say-no-to-drugs speech."

The right wing religious nuts have really gone off the rails on this one, if they back this nonsense. Bad enough theres birthers and death panel believing retards and the tea baggin loons. Might as well just put white sheets on em and be done with it, for crying out loud.

Stupidity has no political party.

You can also chalk this one up to the "No matter what you do, there will be someone against it." crowd.

Jeesh, some people need to really get a clue.

I was thinking of posting a rant about this myself. My mother is a media specialist at an elementary school here, and was asking me a question about something when I saw that the school was giving parents the option to have their child opt out of Obama's address, and I don't remember the next 10 seconds. I think my brain broke and had to reboot. Somehow, even compared to all the dipshits at health care debates, "truthers," and anything that Sarah Palin has ever said, I just couldn't handle this mind-numblingly epic amount of stupidity.

I didn't even think it was possible to create the sheer amount of concentrated dumb it takes to be offended by a president making a speech to children about staying in school. I had always assumed that level of ignorance would create some kind of moronic black hole, consuming all knowledge in a 5 mile radius.

Welcome to Glenn Becks America!

There was a school district near me that went into panic mode and had posted on their website that they would not be showing the Obama speech to students. They have since changed their minds.

Yeah, Left Wingers just bite people's fingers off.

Authorities today are searching for a healthcare reform activist who they said bit off the fingertip of a 65-year-old man during a fight at a MoveOn.org rally in Thousand Oaks.

Hmmm...lets see

1) Glenn Beck says that there are hidden communist symbols all over Rockefeller center.

2) Glenn Beck says that we have the best health care system in the world (of course this is after he did a whole show about our lousy health care system)

3) Glenn Beck sees hidden meanings in Obamas name

4) Glenn Beck thinks that the 2008 election was actually a Coup D'etat by communist socialist nazis

5) Glenn Beck thinks Communists, Socialists and Nazis are all the same

-------------------------------------

The kids in the video

1) They march in a military manner and wear fatigue pants...hmmm...who else would do this in a school...hmmm...surely not the JROTC

2) They each say what the election of Obama has inspired within themselves...commie things like Chemical Engineers, Entrepreneur, etc...

3) Who would want their child to be inspired by a President of the US...surely we would rather have our kids dressed in fatigues calling out that they want to be SAW Gunners, Rifle men, Mortar crews etc...

4) Anybody knows that kids in fatigues are dangerous, they should be out selling drugs, getting girls pregnant, watching pharmaceutical commercials in between their favorite reality show. How stupid are these inspired kids and the parents and teachers that sanction their inspiration?

5) I heard the one kid say he was going to be an entrepreneur. Do you think he knows that he has to give politicians spouses no show jobs in order to have legislation passed just for him?

From August, 2004:

Several Democrats who wanted to hear Vice President Dick Cheney speak in New Mexico on July 31st were required to recite an unusual pledge of allegiance. Before allowing them to attend Cheney's speech at Rio Rancho Mid-High School, the Bush campaign demanded they sign an endorsement form saying they support the president. A campaign spokesman said the pledge was intended to weed out Democrats who might disrupt the event -- but the "loyalty oath" infuriated many voters. "I resent the school that my taxes paid for being used for an event that's restricted to people who sign a pledge to the Republican Party," said Jim Brown, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho.

I don't understand it either. My mom who voted for McCain (she was a Hilary supporter previously) just got into a huge fight with their superintendent who wasn't going to allow the speech be shown in a Philadelphia suburb.

In my mind its a good idea, Obama stayed in school and look where he is. Our education system is hurting and we need educated people desperately in the coming decades. A bit of the kids taking charge of their own education themselves is going to be paramount. And, he's the freaking President. I nearly peed my pants when I met GWBush the first time and I hated a lot of his politics - its still a pretty impressive and important figure for our country.

They have it hidden as subliminal single letter suggestions, Glenn Beck will have a show about this tonight, tommorrow, the day after that, next week, the following week, then in November, December....

The bolding is mine

Like this line: What you're learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.

The bolded s in school means "socialism" and if you notice he said you're. If you remove the 're from you're it says you and that is followed by learn and the bolded s (my bold). This then told the kids to learn socialism.

Then we see the bolded c, this is c for communist, followed by the bolded word meet which tells the students to meet communists.

Obviously the bolded n's mean nazi which if you look are followed by the word future, meaning a nazi future.

A speech to school students is not the issue.

Health care is not the issue.

Socialist policies are not the issue.

The economy is not the issue.

RACISM is the issue!!!!!

This country that prides itself on it's "progress" has not come anywhere near resolving the racial barriers and attitudes that have remained in place and which can be easily provoked by those who find them easy fodder, on both sides.

But, it seems everything was sanitized after the much deserved ruckus in the media..Did you actually look at the classroom activities (http://www.docstoc.com/docs/10582301/President-Obama%E2%80%99s-Address-to-Students-Across-America-September-8-2009)? Note that those are the terrifying K-6 plans, I sadly lost the subversive upper level plans in my email somewhere. Seriously, that's what terrifies the Right? This should be easy...

Truth be told, the hard right is against public school in the first place, so I suppose any speech telling students not to drop out is obviously going to raise issues. The conservative forums were full of fears the last week that the speech would begin the Obama Youth, or whatever else.

So, with the transcript posted a couple of places, what exactly was evil, Osig? Don't give me the sanitized load of crap, the Obama administration isn't exactly running in fear as the Right begins foaming at the mouth.

Closest part of the whole thing to a political agenda was the kid who opened for Obama, but meh.
